will there be an coalition of RVCE and its sister clgs in the near future ??

i got some info from people that in the coming years, rvce, rvitm and rvu will all be clubbed into one big institution. and this is done inorder to get autonomous and all. is this true ?? and even if it is what will happen to the placements which is the only thing rvce is known for. will it get diluted or will rv maintain it ?? and btw how is the current placements going on ??

please help me sort out this mess

im getting nitk mech/chem or rvce cse. ive been trying to decide this for almost a month now and i still havent found a conclusion to this. seniors here please help out. Also people seem to be very negative here, guys please look at this from a rational point.

NITK Mech - Pros:

• Stronger national brand/reputation

• Better peer group, strong alumni network and networking

• Bigger campus

Better Best sports, fests and extracurriculars

• More free time, 5-day week

• Total fees for 4 yrs will amount to ~6 lakhs

• Day Scholar, only 10 mins from home

• More independence/freedom

* This year we will be having new updated syllabus adhering to NEP 2020

• NIT tag may help for higher studies in future

• NIT tag feels like a safety net if I want to take risks later (startup, UPSC, etc.)

• No hostel hassle (laundry, food, daily chores, etc.)

NITK Mech - Cons:

• Mechanical is not really my interest

• Software path is indirect

• Need to compete with CSE students for software roles

• CS minor may require very high CGPA in Mechanical Subjects

• Some companies may have branch restrictions

• Lower average placements than CSE

• Entire plan depends on successfully pivoting to software

RVCE CSE - Pros:

Direct path to software career

• Better alignment with my interests

• Higher CSE placement averages

• Bangalore tech ecosystem

• No need to balance Mech + coding

• Easier access to software internships/placements

• More structured environment might suit me because I tend to slack off when things are too free

RVCE CSE - Cons:

• Lower national brand than NITK

• Smaller campus and less campus life

• Hostel required for me

• Total fees for 4 yrs will amount to ~15 lakhs

• 5.5-day week

• If I get a bad roommate, hostel life could become difficult

• Less freedom compared to NITK

• Concern that health/fitness may suffer due to hostel life and schedule

* The syllabus afaik is very much outdated and crappy

* The management here seems to be a complete mess and I fear that their initiative bringing together RVCE, RVU and RVITM together will dilute the placements.
