I stayed up late last night assembling this IWC Pilots Mark XVII with Sellita SW200-1 movement. As I drove into work today, I couldn’t help but feel happy looking down at the matte black and stainless steel combination that I believe IWC does the best.
When I first became interested in watches around 2007-08, I was particularly drawn to one watch: the Rolex GMT Master II 116718LN Anniversary Green dial on yellow gold. I’ve since been able to acquire that piece in decent rep quality, but I’ve realized that I likely prefer something a bit quieter. IWC watches have quickly become my favorite style and feel. The large and easy-to-read dials make it simple to tell time on these watches.
The Mark XVII is an understated watch, and I’m glad to own it, along with the Le Petit Prince, in my collection. Both were built by me with top-grade parts and Swiss movements.

Hey Rep fam!
I took a break and I’m feeling refreshed.
I recently received this incredible Tudor BB58 in medium blue from ZF.
Here are my thoughts on it. The 2824 movement is surprisingly smooth for an Asian clone. It still has a ghost date, but I have a couple of no-date Swiss movements that I think I’ll use for this piece. Here’s why: I love this 39mm platform, no date, riveted bracelet links, and smooth rotating bezel. ZF really nailed it.
Now, here’s my claim: is this not the medium blue king? I was torn between this and the OP41. There’s a certain level of class I feel wearing the Tudor over a Rolex OP in this form factor. So, I’ll say it: I think it is!
