I had the candy YM42 bezel laying around so I threw it on a YM42 Ti. Honestly, it’s not that bad. Celebrating my daughter’s birthday and she loves it, so win win.

I approve. What more is there to say? When you have a major factory put their R&D in something new, this is the outcome - pretty damn close to perfect. The movement from APSF is better but dang, for an out of the box hitter - this is it!

I think I’ve found the YM40 that is staying in the collection. This JH3235 powered Captain America is extremely impressive. The dial and printed text are the best I’ve seen yet on this reference. Also, if you’re having any doubts about the JH3235 (trust me I get it) - however, you should give it a go and see for yourself how smooth and accurate at time keeping it is!

Additionally, it passed the bath test for the little dude ✅

On a genuine strap (meant for my green dial, but more coming on that beauty), however I think the reed green still works on the black dial here.

I snagged one of these before APSF shut down, and I’m glad I did. I absolutely love this watch in genuine form, so I’m probably a little more critical of the rep than most.

A couple things I noticed:

• The strap really needs to be burgundy. I’ve already got a gen strap on the way, which should make a huge difference.

• The dial has a sunburst finish instead of the correct lacquer finish. I’m going to see if my dial guy can work some magic and get that sorted.

Even with those nitpicks, I’m really happy to have grabbed one before they disappeared.

Who else has a watch in their rotation that gives those new watch day vibes every time it comes back in rotation??

I have a few of them, but today this hand built (by me) IWC Mark XVII is doing just that.
