I accidentally found the only thing that's ever stopped me from snoozing my alarm 12 times
For as long as I can remember, my mornings have been exactly the same. Alarm goes off. I tell myself "five more minutes." Then somehow it's 45 minutes later and I'm rushing to get ready while wondering how I let it happen again.
I've tried all the normal advice. Put the phone across the room. Go to bed earlier. Change the alarm sound. Drink more water before bed. Some of it helped for a day or two, but eventually my half-asleep brain figured out how to beat every system I came up with.
A few months ago I had a random thought: maybe the problem isn't getting out of bed. Maybe it's that nothing actually forces my brain to wake up. Standing up just wasn't enough. I'd walk across the room, turn the alarm off, and somehow end up right back under the covers five minutes later without even remembering doing it.
So I started experimenting with one of those gamified alarm clock apps. Guess what? ALL hard pay walls. Forced to pay to use it at all. I felt like forcing someone to pay to use an alarm at all is kinda scammy. So I built my own, and made it 100% free with code 'ALARMCROC', so that all of you can use it for free. I'm not asking for your money, just your support and feedback, and I would LOVE if you'd leave a review as well.
The first thing I tried was solving a few math problems. I absolutely hated it... but by the time I finished them I realized I wasn't tired anymore. I was annoyed, but I was awake. The next day I tried push-ups. Then taking a picture of the sky outside. Then finding some random object in the house.
Since my launch just a few days ago, I've already had almost 1,000 people join the app and I'm getting great feedback on it, so I figured I would share with you guys because I found it useful for myself and so did many others. The app is called AlarmCroc if you'd like to check it out on iOS.
I'd love to hear if it solves your wake up issues.
