is this 1 good or bad

I’m actually pretty bad at making thumbnails, so I usually do the best I can and use AI to add the finishing touches—or, if I don't know how to create something specific, I just have AI make the whole thing.

Is that how it's supposed to be done? No, but I don't mind it personally as long as the result looks neat—which I think mine do—but whenever I post on Reddit, people say two things:

  1. That because it's made with AI, my content is automatically bad.

  2. This one I only just heard, but it actually stung a bit: that I have a "terrible YouTuber face," even though I'm just smiling.

But my question is: can anyone tell me what I could improve? I should mention that I don't have the best software for making thumbnails, and since I mostly make Shorts, I don't put much time into long-form videos—or thumbnails for them, either.

Anyway, let me know what you think. If it's bad, feel free to say so, but please keep it polite; I tend to get down on myself easily—if one thing is bad, I feel like everything is bad, and I get depressed quickly.

u/dymyster — 27 days ago

3 away from 500 subs😮😮

It took a while, but I’ve finally made it—halfway to my goal of 1k before I turn 25 in April.

is this good or not?

I make English-language videos, but lately the most views have been coming from the Netherlands (where I also live), but I wonder if I shouldn't look at this and be happy that I'm getting a lot of views (60k+ last 4 weeks) or if I should try to do something with it.

This only really happened, going from the normal 30 percent to this number, since I made multiple shorts for the World Cup.

if i can get 2 more then i won't have a -2 in the analytics at the end of a great month gain 52 now 50, it's still great but a stain in the analytics

Why is this always happening at the end of begin of the month

June was my best month on youtube and with the subs i was shock to see that i received 52 subs but i lost 2 today and It’s a shame, purely because the analytics show a gain of 1 to 7 on most days, but then a loss of 2 on the last day of the month; I still gained 50 subscribers overall, but it’s a bit of a bummer—you could call it a slight blemish. And before anyone says I shouldn't whine about losing just two, it’s purely the impact on the analytics that bothers me.

June 2026 wil be my best month on youtube😄

June is shaping up to be the best month across the board—I’ve gained the most views, watch time, and subscribers (though it’s a shame I lost two today; that’s a slight blemish on the analytics). Hopefully, July will go just as well, or even better.

1 sub added for 10 days and it's still going on

I started this streak last Thursday and was at 428 back then, and now, 10 days later, I'm at 453. 25 subs in 10 days is the best streak for me in terms of getting subs in a single period.

I've streamed a few times in the meantime and made some more shorts because of the World Cup, but it's going well. June 2026 could be my best month in terms of views and subs, though not yet watch hours.

I have a question?

I streamed Vertical both days this weekend, but they didn't get any viewers. What I normally see, and experienced myself, is that when you're just starting to stream, they get a few viewers to see if people stick around to see if it's something for them. But this time I didn't even get that opening, got nothing, and for someone like me, this was very demotivating.

I kept going anyway, but wasn't really happy afterwards, whereas the weekend before that I also streamed both days and they did fine with 154 and 124 views; I even gained 9 subscribers that weekend, and for someone with 428 subscribers, that's quite a lot for 2 days. But I don't really know what that is, if it's just bad luck or if YT didn't like something about my stream, because I think they just didn't think it was good. And it doesn't help that the long-form video I posted on Sunday isn't getting any views (at the moment I'm typing this, it has 5 views in 3.5 hours, and the LF before that already had 2.5k in that time, so I find it weird).

But is this just bad luck, or should I adjust something so that I don't have this problem next time (next weekend) and can just stream with 100% motivation until the end?

Am I the only one?

I have one friend like that who also does something on YT, and a year ago we weren't far apart in terms of subscribers, and then he uses a trick to get subscribers—and I don't mean that he makes more or better videos, but he responds to a big YouTuber and gets subscribers from that. 12 months ago I was at about 250, he was at 450, and now it's 411 for me and he has 2.57k. Yeah, he knows better how YouTube works, but I have 10x more videos than him, yet the subscribers are coming his way, and that makes it less fun for me because I put more effort into it than he does, but he's still pulling far ahead. Is this normal or is he just lucky?

When I make long-form videos, they don't get any views. The last one I posted had 11 after 4 days. I'm trying to get my channel history back because I suddenly lost it for the second time, but I need to post a long-form video to get it back faster and best, though it's not really working this way. Can someone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to get the videos a bit more views again?
