I've been sort of following the progress of CA's Balcony Solar Bill SB 868, and the last I can find is that it was moved to the Suspense File on August 5th but from what I can see here it doesn't look like it's on the suspense docket from yesterday.
Does anyone with more understanding of what is going on have any idea what comes next?
5+ years ago i made a resolution to keep my DuoLingo streak for a year, that became 2, then 3, then 4... you get the picture. I'm currently over 2000 days, and if I can make the JMT happen next year i'll be over 2200 or more...
I have the ability to freeze my streak for 3 days at a time which can be extended with minimal signal i think, but I don't know if that would be enough between places with internet. I could possibly ask a family member to do the lessons while i'm on trail.
Do any of the small devices provide any sort of data that could be used to make sure I don't lose what i've built over 5 1/2 years?
Any thoughts? Suggestions? hardware recommendations?
I have a weird idea. Some of the most comfortable spaces at Burning Man are shaded by Aluminet and/or shade material. And when I'm not at the Burn or Regionals I have loads of Aluminet just sitting in bins.
I have an old house, it has no AC, box fans in most windows trying to keep hot air from building up here and there. Most of the heat in my house is radiant, during the day my attic absorbs heat and then the house just cooks for a while after the sun sets.
I'm curious what would happen if I was able to put my house under some of this Aluminet - maybe make a frame that sits some 6" off of the existing roof for an air gap. has anyone ever done this? Is this insane? Is that a good enough reason to try it? Lowering the interior temperature even a few degrees would be really nice. Would it work?
I have been on the phone with AppleCare numerous times over the last few months about this issue. AppleCare agents blame Meta, one agent said the FaceBook Terms of service that I agreed to allow Meta to skirt apple's privacy / microphone controls. Another Apple agent said I need to talk to meta to find out how they're targeting the adds... but it seems fairly obvious - the phone is listening somehow. I have the instagram app, but I have the mic turned off in Apple's settings. I don't have the FB app, only access it through Safari.
IF Apple is telling the truth and not allowing MY phone to listen to me, then Apple is allowing the phones next to me to send keywords to Meta to target their adds.

Talk about Medieval times at a party, get advert for medieval times.
Talk about getting a shed, get Home Depot ads for a shed.
Talk about a lock picking kit while walking down a road, get advert for a lock picking kit.
Talk about Lake Tahoe while driving to mammoth, get advertising for Tahoe trips.
Drive past a wild fire, mention the fire, get advertisements for Wild Fire Safety systems.
Friend mentions she has a Murphy bed in her van, I get adverts for Murphy Beds.
Buddy and I out on a walk and he talks about how he slipped and one of his flip flops broke, now I'm getting adverts for flip flops a few hours later.
I've even had some moments where things I've mentioned in my iMessages have been fed back to me. Bands that I saw years ago at a concert now advertised to me all of a sudden.
I have looked up NONE of these things, they aren't in my history, I have the Mics turned off on all but 4 of the apps on my phone (Duolingo, Signal, WhatsApp, and SoundHound none of which should be eavesdropping on my when the phone is locked), I have done everything the Apple agents have told me to do... yet the laser focused adds persist. And Apple takes no responsibility. My conversations are NOT private if things I'm talking about get turned around and fed back to me in the form of commercials.
My phone does not seem in the least bit private. Is there an app that shows what the phone is hearing? or what it's receiving from other devices in the area?
It's maddening to have Apple constantly saying my phone isn't listening without offering any proof to the contrary, or by saying it is listening, but it's not our fault.
As the title says, trying to find a monitoring tool for my old SunPower system installed in 2015.
My system uses some sort of a power line connection that is hardwired into my router.
I tried to use SunFlower, but the app couldn't find anything, I haven't tried the SunStrong (or whatever) because I don't like the idea of paying $100 a year to see production.
Any recommendations for setting up SunFlower on an old system or a different system I could use in it's place that doesn't cost too much.

Every time I see one of these offers I assume they come with me agreeing to something else like a higher interest rate down the road.
I have read what little fine print was attached to the offer, and I don't see anything that stands out as a "gotcha."
The only thing I can see is that when it expires my rate will go to 18.74% which they say is the current standard APR.
Is there anything I should be aware of before accepting this offer?
I have a 16' dome and for the last 8 years or so, I've covered it with some grade school parachute.
Recently, I picked up some beach shades that are SPF 50 which makes being in their shade noticeably more comfortable. I was thinking I'd try and replace the dome cover with something similar, but I have no idea where to order it from or what to look for, or what that fabric is called, etc...
Anyone have any sources or recommendations for covers?
