Unsure about my own current therapist

Hello wonderful group! I’ve been working with a therapist since early spring and feel a bit uncertain if I want to continue working with them. They are my first neuroaffirming therapist since I was diagnosed AuDHD. I am a LPC myself.

The last two months I’ve been feeling like I really don’t know what to talk about and crave them to lead a bit more. We do biweekly and there’s been moments where I’ve had to cancel (always giving enough notice) and they’ve cancelled so it’s been feeling a bit disjointed. They are always late to sessions and we even moved our appt time so that they wouldn’t be late and still it happens. I am trying to be as understanding as possible and practice compassion.

Maybe there’s a part of me that thinks because I’m a therapist I NEED to be in therapy too? I also want to ensure I am doing the best to take care of myself so that I can show up grounded for sessions. I know therapy can be a way to do that.

Also to note: the way things ended with my last therapist was a bit odd so maybe that’s influencing how I am feeling and being more guarded? My current therapist is aware of that situation!

Thoughts? I need different perspectives other than my own!

As I write this I’m noticing that my AuDHD brain is trying to tell me I need to be in therapy in order to be a “good therapist” I think 🧐🤨🥲

EDIT TO ADD— I ended up chatting with my therapist about what my needs are and we agreed on more structure. We also reviewed my intentions for therapy and where I feel it’s important to go. Thank you to this group for encouraging me to advocate for myself.

Propanalol?

Does anyone take this? Especially for anxiety and fear? I’m AuDHD and don’t take anything. My brother (AuDHD as well) has been recommending it to me but I’m afraid of taking medication! I’m a nervous person clearly lol 🫣🥺 please be kind!

Destroying angel mushroom?

Hello! Found this near an area where I let my dogs out. It caught my eye right away! Picture mushroom app says it’s destroying angel (in the amanita family) but I wanted this groups opinion because yall know your stuff! Any leads would be helpful. It’s a beauty… but quite dangerous. (Vermont, USA)

The color caught my eye in the midst of all the green here! I learned that this is hemlock varnish shelf.

Core self

Hello! What are some experiential practices you use with clients in session to help them access core self? I have some ADHD/Autistic clients that need a bit of help grounding into what core self is and feels like. Thank you in advance for any tips 🌞
