Finally in a state to clean up my room. Day 1/2

Ongoing depression but finally in a state to clean up again. Tomorrow I do the other desk and the rest of the floor, as well as some laundry.

Workflow for shooting mechanism?

Asking mainly the people, that have experience with designing shooting guns.

Also to be clear, my question is NOT: "How do I build mechanism X for gun Y"

My question IS: "If you were to design a gun, how would you go about that? What would be your start and end on the project?"

I am badly stuck on the Luger I teased a couple months ago, because I can't really decide what is a good way to go about this, but I think it would be a good practice to build something bigger first, especially since I mainly (only) have technic bricks and with them, some smaller or more precise mechanisms are just not doable.

Since I will submit to the contest and won't have a chance with a technic build anyways, I can at least use it as practice for designing a shooting gun that also looks as good as possible.

So what did you start with when designing a shooting gun?

Did you just grab the bricks and start building or do make a plan in your head?

Do you make some sketches about the general idea you have?

Mechanism first and the gun is built around that?

Gun first and the mechanism after?

Do you get inspiration via YouTube etc. or do you design

them from the ground up by yourself?

What are some general tips and tricks you have?

When in the designing phase you got stuck and how did you solve it?

Also pictures and videos are welcome if it's no trouble for you

Thanks in advance for any answer :)

Edit: Added questions (might happen again I'm slow AF😭)

Sorting technic pieces

First post here, if this breaks any rule I am sorry.

I started to sort my technic and as I was doing it i started to question how other people are doing it and if you have any tips and tricks. I hope my system is somewhat understandable from the pictures. I can get more of these boxes at all times, so space is not a problem.

Since 95% of the pieces I have are either black, grey or brown (not all colours, but mostly all different kinds of pieces are shown) sorting by colour isn't important.

My plan was to sort by different type of brick, as examble: first picture, the left vertical box under the 3l pins, are all pieces that allow for a crossing connection of either pins or axles and the box to the right are all pieces connecting onto either pins or axles and also the second picture: the top right box are beams >8 and the box bottom left are beams <8, although that is the first thing will break down to more specific groups.

I am also happy with pictures of your own sorting system, that would already help me a lot to get an idea how it's done

Red/Green Dot Sight

Finally got around to making a working dot sight. The white brick with holes is for switching the light brick on/off, it gets hidden by the black piece that is left over at the end, I just forgot to mention that in the vid. I used the video linked in the comments as reference.

Attachments for u/chia_pets Glock 26

Again, Glock NOT made by me. It's u/chia_pets Glock 26. Parts list and instructions are available here: https://www.reddit.com/r/legoguns/s/UsvM2Pt2dQ) Be so nice and also like his posts if you like what you see.

It's a very nice gun. The building techniques used are crazy and I had a blast building it. I got all the needed parts from https://yourwobb.com and paid around 21€ free shipping (might be different for other locations) Absolutely worth it!

So i ordered some off brand light up brick from Amazon, that where meant for the ak scope I made a couple weeks ago, and since I also had some green and white ones I decided to do something for the Glock. That is what I came up with. The light ups have a unfavorable on/off switch, that has do be pushed in and rotated. And without gluing parts together I couldn't make buttons that were small enough for my liking. The sights are made by cutting up a lightsaber hilt and I also had some black double stud (??) things left over from various QuanGuan tanks. I will make a separate post where I show how the light works exactly.

I hope you like it. Tell me what you think. As always feel free to copy it and I hope I could inspire you guys.

Edit: Also to the mod team I am sorry for my last post since it was a rule violation (no guessing games) I forgot that rule at the time and it was more of a joke because I think it was pretty obvious what it was (everyone who guessed Luger P08, you were right) But thanks anyways for not torpedoing my post, won't happen again

I am sorry if this doesn't fit this sub. I am an absolute beginner in electronics, in fact this would be my first project. I would like to use 18650 3.7v batteries, since I already have several. How would I connect all this stuff the right way and do I need something else for this to work? The circuit will sit in a closed chassis with only the buttons on the outside of that's relevant. What should I know before buying? I would be very thankful if someone wants to help me

Edit: the LEDs would be single color and would turn on/off together

The next attachment. Build a red dot similar to the Kobra red dot sight 3KN-1C-03. I will work further on it so it looks even more like the real deal. Also I will use a light up brick as soon as I get my hands on one and a piece of transparent plastic, to make it work like a real one. Next up I will build an underfolding stock for the ak Suggestions, tips and questions are welcome. I hope you like it
