The main reason they lost the war was that the Italian people did wanted a war. Mussolini had a dream, but the Italian people did not share the same dream. What would happen if Albania, the Yugoslav Adriatic coast, and a few colonies were incorporated into Italy? The income generated from these territories would go to only a small part of society. Why would an Italian tailor care about Albania?

The German people, on the other hand, had what they saw as a legitimate reason to fight. The regime had pulled them out of collapse and given them a better life, and they were fighting to protect that life. Moreover, they had been humiliated as a result of World War I; they had lost both their national pride and their wealth. In other words, the Germans had far more reasons to fight, while the Italian people went to the front for bald Mussolini's thirst for adventure.

Italy could have emerged from the war with some gains, and of course, the Italian people would have benefited to some extent. However, Italy had no real chance of winning the war. One of the most well-known Blackshirts, Italo Balbo, opposed an alliance with Germany. He stated that Italy could not win the war and that the Italian military arsenal was outdated and inadequate.

Kıbrıs Barış Harekatı’nın ikinci aşamasının başladığı gün, Taşkent köyünde yaşayan Kıbrıslı Türk erkekleri(9 yaşını geçmiş her erkek.) esir değişiminde kullanılacakları zannettirilerek toplandı. Ancak 89 Kıbrıslı Türk, köyden götürüldükten sonra katledildi.
