Saw this anchoring in Jesla, Island of Hvar, Croatia on August 10th. We never got a view of the back to see the name of it so wondering if anyone on here knows.
My grandpa was a P-47 fighter pilot in WWII and took this photo from the cockpit of his plane. He only labeled the back of it “P-47 Over Alps”
I know from his flight records he was based in two places during the war — Fano, Italy and Linz, Austria if that helps. I also know his missions were mainly in Italy, Austria and Germany so that rules out some parts of the alps.
Can anyone identify where exactly these mountain peaks are? I would love to go hiking in them one day or fly over them myself. Thanks!
