Stomach Issue Years Later?

Hi all, some background: I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically about 3 years ago. The symptoms were incredibly sudden and painful (went to ER) and it wasn’t until during surgery over a WEEK later that they discovered my gallbladder had become gangrenous and was dying in my body.

I was lucky to have a very experienced surgeon. My surgery was originally supposed to take 45 minutes and ended up taking almost three hours. I actually healed well, had mild side effects, and occasional pain.

Now, years later, the right side of my abdomen is distended. I had a CT scan done and they found no issues or hernias. We’re assuming it damage from the surgery.
It’s not really painful, but it is noticeable in tighter clothing and makes me feel a little like a balloon. Does anyone else have permanent abdominal distention from gallbladder removal? If so, any other issues with it?

Brain Zaps/Withdrawal Symptoms…But No Changes with Meds

This has been going on for about two weeks and I have found no answers googling.

I have been on 225mg of Effexor for 7-8 years. I know the exact feelings of withdrawal and experience withdrawal symptoms if I take my dose more than a few hours late. I specifically get the pulsing in my ears with eye movement (a semi-common withdrawal symptom).
Because of this, I take my medication as on time as possible and NEVER miss a dose.

Nothing has changed recently except for a manufacturer change of my 150mg effexor (I take a 150mg capsule and 75mg capsule). After a week of the new capsules, I realized I was experiencing withdrawal symptoms. I immediately switched to taking 3 capsules of my 75mg dose and thought my symptoms improved this week. Now today and yesterday I am having withdrawal symptoms AGAIN. I don’t know what’s wrong or what’s triggering it. My irritability is noticeably worse as well in the last two weeks as well. I will be speaking with my pharmacist next week, but the pharmacy is generally unhelpful.

I am also on lamotrigine and buspirone, as well as Vyvanse. I take those consistently and have had no changes with them.

Anybody else randomly experience increases in brain zaps and/or withdrawal symptoms?

Convincing myself I'm having allergic reactions??

Hi all, I have struggled with ARFID since I was a toddler. I also have OCD and significant anxiety that is sometimes managed, sometimes not. I will preface by saying I have been in therapy on and off since age 7 and have a lot of coping skills for my anxiety, as well as medication.

In the last few years, I developed POTS and my environmental allergies have worsened over time to the point that I am miserable and need to start allergy shots. I have never had any food allergies or intolerances, but I do have the oral allergy syndrome where certain fruits/veggies can make my mouth itchy or my stomach hurt because of the pollen similarities.

HOWEVER, in the last two months I started to react (no anaphylaxis or severe reactions) to new things, not just pollen and animal dander. I have had to wear an N95 outside because the pollen is so high where I am. One of my main fears with ARFID is having an allergic reaction or choking from food. I have horrible medical anxiety as well. Yesterday, I was eating a slice of cheese pizza and really struggling. My tonsils itched, my throat felt scratchy, my ears felt full. I was having my usual ARFID food issues too where I felt like I couldn't eat it. Then my partner came home two minutes later and sat with me while I ate and it all went away. :|

So now I'm like, "Am I working myself up that bad that I convince myself I'm having physical symptoms of an allergic reaction?" Has anyone else experienced this from their ARFID?

P.S. I am regularly seeing my allergist and I am not looking for medical advice or diagnosis, just any other personal experiences so I feel less crazy.

Reminder that you can rest even on “good” days

I realized I’ve been in the terrible habit of pushing myself on low symptom days.
I’ll think to myself: I feel fine today so I can skip the shower chair!! I’m doing good this morning so I’ll do the grocery shopping!

Long story short, you don’t have to feel like you’re dying to take care of yourself or use the things that help. Just because I “can” do it right now doesn’t mean I have to.

I think a lot of it was about taking control back and feeling like I could pretend I wasn’t sick. And then I would feel miserable the next day.

I always feel guilty for resting on days where “I could be doing something and getting stuff done.” If you’re the same way, remember you deserve to rest.
