I read this novel sometime in the 2000s, featuring a mother n son going on a canoeing/kayaking trip. They go down a river and its way too rough to actually paddle thru, because the mom was using a road map to find rivers.
They meet a nice old man or something, and they eventually realize he was a former prime minister or premier or the like. Unclear if a real or fictional one.
Theres a scene where the old man teaches the son how to jump of cliffs into lakes by looking at how dark the water is to see if its deep enough.
I keep trying to make this and i keep failing.
I grate my ginger, juice it.
I heat my milk, ive done 70, 75, 80 celsius.
I stir my juice before violently pouring milk into it, ive poured it gently, and mediumly.
Cover the bowl with a plate.
I waited 5-10-15-20 minutes.
Nothing I do makes anything close to a pudding.
Ive gotten fresh ginger, im using whole milk.
The only thing i can think of as a problem is my kitchen is fairly warm. like 30 degrees.
My most recent attempt, 75° 200g milk, 1.5 tbsp juice, violent pour, after 15 mins i got some chunks and whisps, but 98% spicy milk.
How am i messing up? I want to eat this plz

I also have Songhai as a vassal and theyve also left the war. And now im just fighting their allies.
What happened? Is this a bug? is there a weird event i dont know about?
I dont have mods installed or anything.
