Why is Williamsburg/Jamestown only a holy site for Continental Americanists and not all (well non-Californian) Americanists?

Why is Williamsburg/Jamestown only a holy site for Continental Americanists and not all (well non-Californian) Americanists?

Feels like it's such an important place that all Americanists would flock there. The flavor text itself says its a Holy Site.

Also I would love to see just how badly the Americanists get their buildings wrong. There's no way they'd have the first settlers living in basic buildings, they'd 100% deify them.

What I think the map of the world is in 2900

If it's grey then it's wilderness that's inhabited by nomads, jungle or for another reason so sparsely populated it's basically not worth talking about. Yes, sorry Midwest USA & Canadian Prairies but your basically all just nomads or tribes. Whilst the people there have a big culture that is worth talking about, both in game and real life, they don't really have any impact on the global stage beyond a minor raid to another tribe.

The Lands of Opportunity:

- The Americanists have formed a loose confederation where they protect each other. Due to being one of the richest areas of the known world they have been able to expand northwards. Those who follow the New England cults are persecuted beyond belief due to not being one of the religions protected by the First Amendment. A list of "religions" was created by President Theovelt.

- Dietrei and The Hudson Kingdom are in decline. Their territory is attacked by the Americanists to the east and the Consumerists to the west.

- The Remembrant Empire, being militarists and dedicated warrior culture, expand taking Newfoundland. The unorganized Newfoundland Confederation didn't hold up much of a fight. They are currently planning an invasion of the Americanists and Quebec.

- Quebec is standing strong. The Ursuline state stands wary of the Remembrant militarists and the Consumerist fanatics. Having expanded south during the Consumerist invasion of Ontario, Quebec is the strongest Christian in the region. The state is tolerant of the United Church, although is actively (and succeeding) converting those in what was once the Kingdom of Ontario. Quebec has also taken many northern native lands, scared of a potential Remembrant invasion, into its protection.

- The Consumerist Empire. After the Profit arose in Chicago, declaring the doctrine of the eternal dollar, and creating the first new machine (proof of his divine gifts) the industrialist faithful rapidly converted to Consumerism. Their new religious fervor saw them invading all around them. They stand, in 2900, poised to expand further again soon.

The Deep South & Caribbean:

- The HCC has been on an upwards trajectory. The 100 years war of Lwizyana - a brutal unorthodox campaign that didn't involved many sieges or pitched battles - eventually ended in 2850 but brought the HCC to breaking point. Now Lwizyana has been assimilated, mostly, by the marsher lords the HCC has a sense of security again. Atlanta has finally begun taking back some control from it's feudal lords, but it's a slow process. The HCC has secured an alliance with the Kingdom of the Antilles, made easier due to both being Protestants, both preparing for war against The West Indies.

- The West Indies are a strong power. The Rasta Empire stands at the middle of numerous trade routes. Rich, motivated and populous, they are preparing for the invasion of Florida, which they consider rightfully theirs. Over the years they have created Rasta colonies in parts of Yucatan, Central America and Venezuela mostly to secure trade routes.

- The Kingdom of the Antilles is doing alright. They're friends with the HCC, with many thinking about the Kingdom formally joining the HCC to secure protection, a stronger economy and a chance for families to expand beyond the islands.

The Midwest:

- The midwest is hard to describe. The great expanse has a few city states placed along the Trade Interstates (as the Americanists call highways) or at particular sites like Mount Rushmore. However it is a largely lawless, empty land filled with various nomads. The only real power is, barely, The Consumerists who managed to invade as far as Mount Rushmore. However, due to the geography, nomadic peoples, and sparse lands actual control outside small pockets is difficult if not impossible. The plains and the Rockies are huge dividing lines, making travel between East and West extremely dangerous with people on all sides creating numerous myths explaining what lies beyond.

The West:

- The Mormons are Mormoning. California finds them too different to integrate, and the Mormons are so insular looking they're happy to exist where they are. The Great Salt Lake City is well known for its grandeur and scale, perhaps the largest city east of the Rockies.

- California expands, slowly absorbing the small states around it. The tribes of Cascadia are too scattered, too disorganized to really stand up to California. It is strong, but relatively content with its size. California has everything it could ever need and any further expansion will likely be slow. At this point it likely has numerous tributaries. The Eternal Guru remains a figurehead for the time being.

Latin America:

- Mexico is a divided region, though slowly consolidating. Texico, in the North, is made up of Texan Americanists and settled Lone Rangers. The Kingdom of Mexico rules from the old capital but is held in check by the smaller powers nearby who work together to keep the status quo. As Mexico stays divided the West Indies look onwards greedily, seeing their chance to become stronger.

- What was once Colombia is a similar story. Numerous states, due to the hills and jungles, seem to be endlessly squabbling. Life here isn't easy, but it's relatively peaceful with border raids the biggest concern. The West Indies has a presence, but the flourishing Coca Belt that allows trade to travel between the continents, mean everyone is getting rich here. The states here are famous for their great games featuring mysterious animals called Hippos, and many believe these to be mythical creatures.

- Tawantinsuyu is the great power of the south. Economically productive, militarily strong and well organized. By 2900 they have reestablished control of the old Inca heartland missing only Ecuador. They are one of the richest countries in the known world, able to produce huge amounts of food and goods.

- The Empire of La Plata/Uruguay stands strong, unifying under the Yorugan rulers. By 2900 most people call themselves Yorugan/Uruguayan. Uruguay is the first instance of a nation-state in this new world, and are explicitly stating the Rioplatese speakers in the Welsh empire should be in their country. They are an extremely rich country and the Uruguay people, with their flat, vast fertile fields, great infrastructure and desire to all become heroes, are probably the richest peoples in the world. Possibly the highest standard of living for the every day person is here.

- Ymerodraeth y Cymry stands as the last real stand of the cosplaying elite who are left, not that they know it. They are proud of their Welsh heritage, even though none now remember where the original Wales is. They remain ruling over a Rioplatanese speaking population as a Welsh speaking elite. They are worried about the inevitable Uruguayan invasion, not knowing if they have the strength to resist.

- The Waverulers in Stanley remain hopeful Britannia will arrive soon.

- Brasil was once the greatest power in the known world. However the Braganza dynasty couldn't stop the endless infighting of its family members. The Empire, simply too large, needed reform. It was split into 2 parts around 2800. The interior provinces are officially connect to one or the other, but in reality they are a countless collective of tribes, statelets and tributaries connected to one of the Brasilian states.

Atlanta or Orlando for HCC capital?

https://preview.redd.it/fmv2qbm94z9h1.png?width=1381&format=png&auto=webp&s=e3a76c036ceebad209ec6ce07ece784c5b58f602

The HCC collapsed very early on. I started as the count of Tallahassee, slowly took control of Florida. Now I've united most of the former HCC and my truce with Georgia ends in 3 months. Once I conquer Atlanta I'm left with the question of the capital.

Atlanta is the traditional home of the HCC but Orlando has the huge and impressive Disney castle. It would certainly make for a grand capital, with the Disneyland being a place that's almost mythical. In my mind it's akin to the Constantinople of our world, whilst Atlanta is akin to our Rome.

If you were the Emperor, would you base your new Administrative Empire in Orlando, Atlanta or somewhere else?

Confused about salary requirement

Hi, I (British) and my fiancé (Filipina) are getting married in a few months. We both live and work in Taiwan. After we get married, we will finish our work contract and look to move to the UK together. I haven't been a UK resident for 7 years.

However we're seeing seemingly conflicting information about the salary requirements. Hopefully someone on here can elaborate or clear things up.

The government website says "If you apply for a family visa as a partner, you and your partner usually need to prove that your combined income is at least £29,000 a year." This says that together we need to currently be making over 29k per year, which we do.

However individually we do not make over 29k each, only combined.

I've also seen numerous websites saying that I need to already be in the UK BEFORE my (then) wife will be able to apply. These sources say that once I'm in the UK and with a job making over 29,000, then my wife will be able to apply and join. Obviously this doesn't exactly line up with what is says on the government website.

If anyone can help, it'll be greatly appreciated.

35k for a 3 bedroom in Taichung?!!!

Has anyone else noticed that rent prices, especially here in Taichung, have risen dramatically. I was just looking on 591 and a 3 bedroom apartment in North District seems to be around 30-35,000 per month now; last year it was about 25,000. In fact, for the 7 years I've lived here, it's always been around 25,000 but now it's had this huge jump. Obviously wages haven't gone up either, so what is driving this massive rise? Immigration into cities? Greedy landlords? Rental support driving up rent prices?

I don't know about other cities but I'd be shocked if it wasn't happening elsewhere too.

Kaiserreich year 2000 world map & breakdown

Europe - Germany, unsurprisingly, wins the 2WK but was unsuccessful in invading Britain, leading to the peace with honour. France joins Mitteleuropa and the Reichspakt in exchange for return to Paris. Italy is reorganized into the Italian confederation where the states are sovereign but work together. Austria/The Danube Federation and France are also involved. Russia was beaten and this 2nd loss, alongside the SPD German government, allowed for a thawing in relations and almost friendship. Minor border corrections, like in Poland, and the independence of the Baltic states leads to the current European borders.

Mitteleuropa has formed intro a truly continental organization, allowing for German influence to remain high but also responsible for the massive investment in Eastern Europe.

North Africa & Middle East - decolonization happened slowly and, in some cases, never ended. The French have waged a seemingly endless struggle to hold onto its African colonies. The southernmost colonies are effectively independent but none are widely recognized.

Similarly, the Sudan has been a quagmire for Egypt and effectively runs itself despite officially being part of Egypt. Egypt is also struggling to hold onto the Levant. After invading its former ally the region has been fighting a 30 years guerilla war. The rest of Mesopotamia is heavily contested with Egypt, the Ottomans and Iran all launching skirmishes to establish control but so far none have. The Ottomans seem to have control over Mosul and Baghdad whilst Egypt hold onto Damascus, Beirut and Jerusalem.

Southern Africa - After the 1970s Mittelafrikan disaster, Germany had to focus on what was important. Tangyanika and Namibia were secured. Nominal independence was given to Madagascar and Nigeria in exchange for a very loose kind of loyalty to Germany, but South Africa took the opportunity and seized great tracts of land up the coast. Portugal has never given up its colonial claim in Angola, aided by the Germans and South Africans. The rest of Mittelafrika broke away and formed The Congo. It's very decentralized and the poorest country in the world. After the disaster, the British settlers in Kenya rose up and joined the British Commonwealth.

Central and South Asia - Aided by the British Commonwealth, the Dominion of India reunited India. Now one of the leading forces within the British Commonwealth, they are increasingly assertive and eyeing up German Ceylon, an island that has given the Germans nothing but trouble. Tensions between Muslims and Hindus have flared at times but have been mediated by local maharajas and the Sikh-British ruling class.

Central Asia has formed the Central Asia Federation. In the 1960s parts of East Turkestan joined the federation, and now Urumqi is increasingly looking dominant within the federation.

East Asia - Japanese domination of the East has been unabated since the blitzkrieg of the 1940s. The Japanese empire is vast, fascistic and unstable. They directly control the home islands, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, The Philippines, Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak, and most of the Pacific islands. Indirectly, all of South East Asia is under their control. They are independent on paper, but most countries don't even bother establishing embassies there, just basic Consulates.

China is the one exception. Under the Japanese thumb until the 1980s, the tide is now turning and the Chinese dragon is waking up. Journalists and political scientists from across the world are saying the start of a new war is inevitable. Japan has been through a decades long financial crisis and its people are increasingly unhappy.

Oceania - After the centralization of the British Commonwealth, the organization secured control of some southern pacific islands. Australasia acts as a bastion of freedom, under the British crown, in an otherwise troubled neighbourhood. Australasia has acted as a safe haven for any dissidents from the Japanese Empire who can reach its borders. The Hawaiian kingdom has now been a British Commonwealth aligned state since the 2ACW, with its residents now feeling Hawaiian over American.

South America - not too much change from OTL, except the 2ACW shattered the Monroe doctrine. This has led Uruguay and Paraguay becoming battlefields between Brazilian and Argentinian governments whenever one of their governments is particularly unpopular.

North America - MacArthur won the 2ACW. His professional armies were too strong, trained and competent for the untrained militias of the other states - direct invasion of the CSA by Canada also helped a lot. America has been through troubled times with the 'American Caesar' ruling until 1961. Succeeded by general Eisenhower. Eisenhower led a transitional government to reestablish democracy within the United States, restoring and amending the Constitution. The first civilian President of the USA, elected in 1966, was Richard Nixon.

In Canada, seeing how impossible it was to invade the British isles, consolidated the British Commonwealth into a formal, singular and relatively centralized institution. Each country within is independent but all countries agreed to remove nearly all restrictions between them. Effectively acting as one bloc, it has allowed Canada to punch above its weight.
---------------------------------------

In 1955, Austrian and Hungarian scientists invented the Atom bomb. It was used in warfare, only once, by the British Commonwealth during the 1967 invasion of Australia when a lone Australian plane dropped it on Jakarta. Both sides realized the implications of this quickly, quietly ending the war with a peace treaty being signed in 1971.

This 1971 peace treaty affirmed Japanese control over East Asia, and Japan - overextended - agreed to recognize all current borders. Eventually most of the world agreed to join the 1971 character recognizing the borders as they were in 1971, leading to many countries ignoring war, rebellions and strife in the middle east and Africa.

Nuclear powers:

  1. Germany - 10,000
  2. USA - 15,000
  3. Union of Britain - 200
  4. Russia - 500
  5. Empire of Japan - 5,000
  6. British Commonwealth - 200
  7. Danube Federation - 100

Top 10 GDP's January 1st 2000 (assuming 1 ℳ = $1 because i'm not working out 70 years of fictional currency changes)

  1. Mitteleuropa - ℳ13.5 trillion ( Germany proper: ℳ 6T, France: ℳ 1.8T, Danube Federation: ℳ 2T, Poland + Baltics: ℳ 1T, Italian Confederation - ℳ1.1T Ukraine: ℳ 0.8T, Balkans & associated states: ℳ 0.8T)
  2. Co-Prosperity Sphere - ℳ11 trillion (Japan: ℳ 5–6T, China: ℳ 4T. Korea + Taiwan: ℳ 1.2–1.5T, Thailand: ℳ 0.25–0.35T, Burma: ℳ 0.2–0.3T, Vietnam: ℳ 0.3–0.4T, Laos + Cambodia: ℳ 0.1–0.15T, Malaysia: ℳ 0.4–0.5T, Philippines: ℳ 0.35–0.5T, Indonesia: ℳ 0.6–0.8T, Papua: ℳ 0.05–0.1T, Pacific Islands: ℳ 0.05–0.1T)
  3. USA - ℳ8 trillion
  4. British Commonwealth - ℳ5 trillion
  5. Russia - ℳ2 trillion
  6. Brazil - ℳ1.5 trillion
  7. South Africa - ℳ1 trillion
  8. Ottoman Empire - ℳ0.9 trillion
  9. Central Asia Federation - ℳ0.9 trillion
  10. Union of Britain - ℳ0.8 trillion

Whilst, on paper, Mitteleuropa and the Co-Prosperity Sphere are equal they really are not. Mitteleuropa is cohesive, democratic with strong institutions. The Sphere is held together, badly, by force and exploitation. After 70 years this is finally coming to a head and Japan can barely hold on anymore.

Top 10 GDP's no blocs

  1. USA – ℳ8 trillion
  2. Germany – ℳ6 trillion
  3. Japan – ℳ6 trillion
  4. China – ℳ4 trillion
  5. India – ℳ2 trillion
  6. Russia – ℳ2 trillion

The title mostly sums it up. Has anyone got any experience doing it? The British consulate (or whatever it's name is) says they don't print out Certificates of No Marriage, but I need one to get married. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this? I see I can get one in the Philippines but that might not be valid in Taiwan - although I know I will need to get it officially translated & notarized anyway.

Any experiences that can be shared or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ride or die Sami Zayn is amazing. His new outfit is so dorky you just want to punch him, a great contrast to the always cool and obvious soon to be main eventer Trick Williams. Trick will probably win, and we can see Sami descend further and further into his Ride or Die era.

And obviously Danhausen is great, Miz is great, and Kit Wilson is great. Each week I care more and more. All three work so well together. It's dumb, it's silly, it's toxic, it's very evil, it's very nice. It's WWE at its best.
