Aggie Bever-Jones is out of contract. Should Arsenal go for her?

In some ways, she's a little like Catlin Foord, not in how she does things, but carries the ball quickly, but with more end product in terms of goals. When fit of course. Foord has a better engine.

Would you take her on? I think, despite the "yuk, from Chelsea?" reflex reaction, she's be a good punt considering she's available for just her wages and might be looking elsewhere. I think, as they say, a freeby.

Russo: 32 goals and assists this seaosn

24 goals and 8 assists. Her output is insane for a pretty unselfish player whose not played striker quite a bit.

New Season ticket prices are out.

The club is introducing a new tier and prices going up by £1.30 a match:

My ticket in block 14 is tier 2, was pondering if I should move. The best atmosphere is in the bring the noise blocks, but while the view is good, there's something for sitting nearer the middle to see all the action equally.

But sometimes, like the first half against Everton, you get a ton of people in the middle east stand just not joining the chants and just chatting through the match. It was epic against Lyon though, but that's because people weren't in their ordinary seats.

Anyone got opinions about what's it like in their part of the stadium?

Why Arsenal fell short in the WSL again

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c2k2gxpky37o

The article agrees with many of our assessments through the season. In short:

Slow start (again) in October and November. All those draws.
To many games. Russo played almost 9 games more than Shaw. Deep cup runs, 5 competitions all added to this. Finished 4th was a blessing in disguise for City last season, Arsenal played 6 games in 18 days vs 2 for City.

I'll also add a few:

-Thinner squad than last season. Caldentey and Little have been run into the ground as literally our only trusted midfielders. Williamson and Kelly will be almost a new signings next season given how little they played.

-So many minutes for key players after a long season and the Euros. I'm sure if Russo, stamina girl that she is, played less she would be sharper. And she's had a great season, but boy has she carried us. But being that 1 or 2 % down must blunt your edge a tiny bit. Caldentey is still playing well, her stamina is incredible, but you can see her final balls are so much sloppier and she doesn't pop up to get goals like she did last season. That's when accumulative fatigue takes off you. At the top level 1% is a difference between getting into space a bit quicker, being slightly more "on it" and quick thinking and ultimately getting titles and 2nd.

-Age. The club clearly recognises this and having the oldest team playing the most games only exacerbates these lot of high games, thin squad and minutes problem.

-Losing our Aussies. Family tragedy, injury and the Asian cup all understandably hurt us.

-Poor form form the likes of Frida Maanum. She again looked like a ghost chasing the press last night. She's never had a long run of good form. She's 27 in 2 months. I think we simply can't expect her to get more consistent at this point and I don't think she suit Slegers style to much. This is compounded that we had to keep playing Russo in midfield.

-The club didn't get the transfer widow they wanted last summer. It looks a lot better this time round, but as it's been reported Reuteler and Stanway wanted to come but their clubs had no interest to release them, only illustrates these problems were known problems.

My positives:

Mostly the future. The fact we wanted to spend on Reuteler and Stanway shows the club did want to spend money. We did on Smith after all. That suggests to me, finally, it could be our high income means we can finally buy who we want. But I still won't hold my breath until it happens. Along with the reported transfer links, all of which should happen, I stull think we could get in another elite winger. I assume with Meado going we will aim to. But I think our goal should be Klara Buhl or similar. Maybe a creative 10 as well as putting Mariona back there.

-The return of players missing. Williamson back to full fitness. Catley and Kelly. Plus Kyra. Who I hope she genuinely comes back when she is ready. I went through what she did 18 months ago, It takes time. God bless her and her family.

-A summer of rest. Caldentey, Russo all need it. Even Smith looked a bit tired yesterday.

-No League cup. Can't think of a team who will benefit more with fewer fixtures than us.

-We are the hardest team to beat in England. The Emirates is a fortress. We beat all our rivals that we played.

-Slegers. I think she got things wrong in the early part of the season. I suspect that is down to a combination of not trusting players, overplaying our top players early on, them not having much of a summer break and a huge seasons of fixtures for an older squad etc. I think she had learned a lot this season and has shown herself to be an excellent problem solver adn she has reform our tactics and play style to make AWFC the hardest team to beat. If she gets the early part of next season right after a good summer of additions, then I'm sure the league title will be ours.
