Shortly after new oil and ore deposits have been discovered (see post), the old Marble Grove Northern Ore Mine has been repurposed to supply local concrete production with desperatly needed stones.
Being unconstrained by ore availability, new extraction fields have been opened and local stone production quadrupled.
Today, the stone mine produces roughly 550t of stone per month, suplying half of the entire island's stone demand, bringing a boost to local economy and lowering the cost of building upkeep.
Local environmental initiatives welcome the urgently needed boost in job growth but also warn about the impact of the mine for local flora and especially fauna, citing studies about the Willowbird, domestic to the region and sensitive to noise produced by the mine.
