SCX10 Coyote (Roxie) - Cosmetic Build Update - Rum Runnin'

Roxie is nearing "completion" (is there such a thing?), vendor stickers have been added, front headlights, and barrels and bottles in the bed for a rum-runner look. The bed cosmetics are attached to a swappable bed insert (I have a few) so they can easily be removed for competition/weight savings.

Non-cosmetic next/last steps, I am likely going to swap in a Fusion Pro Elite/4S setup and a direct-power servo (currently a fusion SE on 3S with a 35kg servo powered off of the receiver), and I am going to try 100mm desert lizards vs the 90mm that are on it currently. No issues with the current suspension setup just curious!

SCX10 Coyote (Roxie!) - Build Update

I made a few updates since the first post!

DSM Off-Road bed and rock sliders (specifically for this cab). The fitment of everything was perfect, excellent products and print quality. The bed has better positioned shock mounts, too, which is a bonus!

BornFreeLaserCo customized wood bed inserts. Can’t recommend this shop enough!! I have gotten inserts for my IR40 TRX4M previously and wanted something similar for this particular bed, which didn’t exist. They pulled the dimensions from the STL file and made perfect inserts for me, and now offer them on the shop alongside their others.

90mm Yeah Racing Desert Lizard shocks with generic shock keys in the front, I might try out 100/110mm, but the articulation with the shocks as is is good.

Injora winch servo alongside the steering servo and using the factory routing/fairleads.

Generic modular metal rear bumper — the DSM bed has a built in black bumper for comp but I wanted something a hair stronger.

And just for fun:

Name and tag — named her Roxie the Rock Crawler and got a name tag sticker

Pirate flag — easily removable by twisting for comp, print of Blackbeard/Edward teach’s flag.

I’m exploring Servo on Axle setups since the front extension is starting to really show the lateral shift from the panhard, if anyone has done this on an scx10iii with the AR45P axles and has tips please let me know!

SCX10 Coyote Build

Decided to make a dedicated 10 scale crawler suitable for light competition. I started with an SCX10 Coyote.

I replaced the motor with a Hobbywing Fusion SE 1800 on 3s, and the stock servo with a 35kg hobbypark on 7.4v.

Generic white beadlock wheels, brass rings and portal covers in the front. I put 4.75 inch Proline BFG Krawler tires on, replacing the stock 4.9 inch. There are soft injora silicone inserts, but they may be a tad too soft, I need to drive it more.

Suspension is currently stock minus springs for droop, I have some 90mm desert lizards on the way I am going to give a try.

The body is a Pro-Line Comp Wagon that suffered my first attempt at lexan/spray painting. I tried for a candy effect and did pretty good for a first shot, but I got excited on the backing layer, put it on too heavy and caused a number of runs. I still love it because I made it, so it stays!

Still looking for rear bed/cage options, if anyone has any recommendations for the SCX10 iii Coyote chassis with a cab only front, please let me know!

Outside of some small cosmetics and I think I’m about “finished” with my first RC build.

*Injora Roverin M30 G2 Sensored Brushless motor/ESC

*HobbyPark 40.3:1 transmission

*Meus Isokinetic Axles

*Injora 7kg waterproof servo

*1.3” Injora Wheels

*70mm Injora Swamp Claw Tires

*Brass hex hubs

*Injora steel driveshaft

*Injora brass high clearance links

*Injora brass skid plate

*Injora 59mm shocks w/ 50wt oil

*Injora LCG aluminum chassis

*Injora double decker reciever tray

*850mah 3s battery

*Injora IR40 body

*Injora tow crane/ winch w/servo

*.6mm braided fishing line for tow line

*Injora tow hitch

*Born Free Laser Co. bed insert

*Radiomaster ER5C-i reciever

*Injora light controller/switch

*ElecHawk PWM on/off switch (for fan/cam)

*RunCam SpotterV2 FPV camera

*Generic 25x25mm brushless fan (for cam)

*Hot Racing Jolly Roger flag

*Vallejo acrylic paint job

Final weight is ~1070g, 565 front 505 rear

The bed insert is on hinges so that the shell can still flip open and so that the tow crane can raise.

I replaced 4 screws on the crane with thumb screws so that it can be raised and lowered, and a battery rubber band keeps the bed insert against the crane at any height.

The FPV camera and fan are on a PWM controlled switch so they can be turned on and off together.

This has been a blast to put together, and even more fun to drive!
