Japantown noms

What are your favorite spots to eat in Japantown? My daughter is infatuated with all things Japan so we are going to spend half a day there. She loves boba, pastries, ramen, sushi, izakaya, etc.

Where are we going and what are we eating?!

Also, any other non-food, must-see things we should put on the list?

Asian dumplings and dim sum

I was in the city a few kings ago and tried Hang Ah Tea Room and dug their offerings (especially that chile oil).

What are your favorite spots in SF?

Thanks for any leads you can offer!

Moving on from the Chemex

I’ve brewed exclusively with the Chemex and their branded filters for a few years, nearly exclusively 15g pourovers. I’m ready for a new brewer. As for my grinder, I recently acquired a Commandante C40 and am loving the upgrade from the Barratza Encore.

I would like some suggestions on a new brewer that has zero plastic parts that will compliment my grinder. Also, what filters are recommended with your suggested brewer and why?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Scarpa Ribelle 46.5 fs

I bought a few pairs of Ribelles to check sizing. Decided on the 47. Sent the 46.5 back and apparently me wearing one in the yard for a bit to check fit found them denying my return.

At any rate…I have a pair of these I’ll off for a nice discount if there happens to be anyone that size in need. I have all the receipts from Scarpa USA, return letter, whatever provenance you’d want.

Mt. Shasta via Avy Gulch

Hitting Avy Gulch in a few days.

Question 1: Are the very small baskets (maybe 2” in diameter, probably less) on my trekking poles sufficient, or should I dig out the larger ones? Not sure what late spring conditions are like there right now.

Question 2: Will a MSR Pocket Rocket on new butane canisters function sufficiently at Helen Lake?

Thanks for any help, especially from the folks on here who just summited via Avy.

Best budget-oriented hand grinder

I recently upgraded to a Commandante C40 and have been very impressed with its performance as compared to the Barratza Encore it replaced. I have a coworker with whom I often discuss pourovers and with whom I swap beans from time to time. He has a lesser electric grinder and I want to gift him a nice but budget-oriented hand grinder so we are drinking similar cups.

I was looking at the K6…thoughts?
