Planning to see bucket for 1st time. Ok to bring kids?

All ages venue. Kids (10F/15F) both want to come. This is fine, right? Earplugs will be required for them. Seems like he'd draw a friendly crowd

Boat storage

I've been keeping my 19' CC down near solomons. It's just too far for me. Looking for a place near Annapolis that I can keep it trailered and will allow me to keep it plugged in continuously to maintain charge in trolling motor batteries. Covered storage and a wash station would be amazing but they're nice-to-haves. Any ideas? The 24/7 access to electric has been the limiting factor so far.

Bank Account Bonus Hunting

It seems like there's a couple grand annually just for signing up for new bank accounts. A lot are based on just getting a single direct deposit in a certain time frame. Are people doing this?

  1. Are there any real risks to doing this? Can it impact your credit score?

  2. Is it a huge hassle?

Just wondering if I can open an account and close it as soon as I get the bonus...there has to be a catch, right?

Turkey season is the best couple of months of the year. Recently joined this sub and have enjoyed seeing the harvests and reading stories.

I have had a bit of an "old man yells at cloud" moment as I've engaged with turkey hunting content, however...I've been turkey hunting for 30 years, use the same 1998 BPS with copper plated lead shot, have pared my calls down to 2 slate calls - one primary, one back-up. Kind of a minimalist set up, but I kill a few birds every year and it works for me.

How have we gotten to the point that new hunters think they need to buy a $1k gun, spend $20/shell, amass 27 different calls and a dozen decoys to kill a gobbler?

To all new hunters, the most valuable thing you can do is spend time in the woods. Costs $0 and you'll learn through trial and error. The most expensive set up will NOT overcome the experience piece. You're not killing more birds because you spent more. Let's stop falling for the marketing and enjoy the process of building woodsmanship/hunting skills.

Rant over. Good luck out there everyone.

I had 125% of my annual household operating budget in cash. Put 20% into the market, 90% of the remaining cash into 3.6% money market account, and the remaining into a 3.1% high interest savings for a short term emergency fund.

My job is stable-ish but I like the comfort of knowing I can float for a year if needed. The question is: what % of my overall liquid cash should I put into the market to maintain a sufficient buffer? I'd be looking at mainly index funds like VOO. Retirement accounts are in good enough shape.
