Night shifts (UK)

I turn 18 in a couple months but I don’t want to do night shifts. A few of my friends have turned 18 and the minute they did they were thrown right into night shifts. Even after setting their availability to not do nights, they denied them and still continue to schedule them nights.

I don’t get how they can do this if you didn’t apply for the overnights job? And it’s not as if they even gave you a choice? What do you do in this situation?

UCAS Extra

I applied to Criminology at Edinburgh Napier a week ago through my Extra. I had emailed before hand where they said to apply. Can I email again to follow it up or should I just wait on it?

Im at the stage where I just want my offer so I can relax! Any help welcome, thanks !

How long did it take for your UCAS Extra offer to come through?

I have already emailed the university before hand to which they replied saying I meet all the entry requirements and they would be happy to offer me a place if I had it to my Extra. I’m just a bit para as I’ve had to decline offers to put it through obviously.

I’ve just left high school and it’s been pretty fucking lonely since. I was in a small friend group that consisted of the 5 of us. We were very close and you know hanging out every other day and the group chat was always active.

Since we’ve left school, we’ve not done anything, not spoke or saw each other. I genuinely have asked every week to the point I’m sounding desperate. I have a pretty shitty home life where I just want out the house and I understand money can be tight and they might not always be available but it’s never been an issue before and if it was it doesn’t bother me.

So, anytime I ask it’s some shit excuse that just doesn’t make sense but they’ll happily be seen going out with their boyfriends. I honestly just give up and have never felt more alone.

So yeah lol. It’s not that deep but it’s just annoying but what can you do 🤷‍♀️

So I’ve been working at McDonald’s for almost a year. While I’ve been trained on everything, I haven’t been put in kitchen since any of my training. I’m usually booth, drinks, bundling or just front/delivery wrapping.

So this manager that had left just after I started has returned and doesn’t know that I hadn’t been in kitchen since training put me on fries to which I can do but I’m not exactly super fast at it, especially when it’s a Friday night rush. After that, I was put on finishing and while the guys beside me helped to keep me right, I was still obviously a bit confused and slow.

How do you get better in kitchen? As in knowing what goes on each burger, etc?

I have applied for paramedic science but not sure if I want to do that anymore. My top choice university that I would’ve went to rejected me anyway.

I’ve been more into criminology/psychology and looking to maybe apply through ucas extra or clearing. However, I’m unsure what to do from here as it is obviously a completely course so my personal statement has no connection.

Has anyone else had offers from extra for completely different courses?

Any help appreciated :)
