All SEs moving from commission plans to P&L

SE Director here at a mega VAR ($20B+).

Our company president just announced that we are normalizing all SE pay to be based on greater P&L financial performance (Gross Profit). Same targets, but no more being tied to your account's quota. Translation - goodbye windfalls and multi-year effort payouts.

The messaging is total horseshit - "simplifying payroll system." I see it as regulating and normalizing SE pay to save money.

Curious what others think of this. I'm trying to keep up the morale on my team but they are crushed.

I (35M) am in the middle of coming out publicly after a long life of repression and self hate - yay me!

I’m currently a Director at a tech-sales-bro company and I’m struggling to maintain my role to where I’m having conversations with my management about moving into an individual contributor role.

The level of exposure in my role publicly is just so high, and while being Gay in itself isn’t a problem, it’s the fact that I have some closeted expression that I’m working to integrate. With that, the level of vulnerability is freaking me out.

It’s a great company and I have complete support either way, I’m just worried about being a quitter when I should push proudly, or if I deserve a less exposed role where I can be myself comfortably.
