Tips for heavier Goth makeup?

I’m not sure if my makeup style would even be considered “goth” or if it’s more so just general alt. I feel like I gravitate towards a lot of highlight and bronzer, shiny dewy textures whereas goth seems to favor more dry, white and cakey bases. But I would like to make my looks slightly more dramatic and theatrical to go to fully goth clubs. Wondering if anyone has pointers on this.

How to believe in/trust your own writing

New writer here (first ever novel, 55000 words, about 220 pages). I’m in that weird purgatory period where I’m on about the 3rd draft of revisions but haven’t showed it to anybody else yet. I find I keep editing with this overarching feeling that even if I think somethings good, it must not be because of how new and inexperienced I am. In other words there’s always some hidden writing rule book I’m not adhering to.

I’m not very technically trained in craft (I took one undergrad fiction writing class a few years ago) and I find myself over scrutinizing my manuscript with a fine-tooth comb. For instance every metaphor becomes “purple prose.” Every physical character description becomes “amateur writer over- explaining.” The issue is I’m very passionate about this story and these characters, I just completely lack confidence in my own ability to execute it to my own standards.

I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on trusting and believing in your skills, or your storytelling intuition, despite knowing how inexperienced you are.

How much do I need to censor my writing to avoid real life consequences (jobs mostly)

I recently finished my first novel, I’ve spent a ton of time on it and want to workshop it with professional editors. The book contains very heavy adult themes (substance use, sex) , it would mostly fall under the category of noir/adult contemporary fiction. My concern is that I can never actually do anything in terms of publishing without my job finding out and firing me. Are there any loopholes around this? Obviously I can use a pen name but that’s not full proof.

How to edit in a way that is actually practical and not neurotic

I wrote my first ever full novel about six months ago (214 pages, about 54000 words). I let it sit with a while, and I’m working on editing it. I absolutely love this story and these characters, and it’s really important to me that this book eventually ends up being good. The issue is, I’m very untrained and inexperienced with craft, so even though I’m fairly confident when I actually read the story, and it keeps me very engaged, I keep having these thoughts along the lines of (this is your first novel, so there’s no way it’s actually good.)

I constantly obsess over things like proper tense switching, pacing, chapter sequencing, whether or not I have “permission” to write about these topics, stuff like that. I avoid the whole “writing on eggshells” thing, but then afterwards I worry that it’s too much and I’ll offend readers. I’m just scared of showing beta readers an embarrassingly bad draft.

My question is, what are some logical things to look for during editing, and how do I not get so bogged down with stuff like this?

I feel like I’m doing something wrong but can’t determine what it is

I’m relatively new to makeup (started roughly a year and a half ago consistently). I try doing editorial looks because they’re what I like, but I feel like something always looks off when I take unfiltered photos. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on if I’m doing anything incorrectly in this look (besides the obvious lip liner mistake in the corner)

How to get over the amazing sex you had with your ex

I (24m) was with a girl (22f) for a very short time, no longer than a month. We did officially date however and it was extremely intense, constant affection, off the charts intimacy, I really thought we were building something special and then she randomly broke it off out of absolutely nowhere and left me confused and crushed.

One of the parts I’m really struggling with is the sex. It was so electrifying and passionate that I cannot figure out how her spark for me just turned off so quickly, but I can’t stop associating sex with her now. I’m scared that anybody I sleep with from now on I’m gonna subconsciously compare to her. I wanna stop yearning for her and her body but don’t know how.
