Just uploaded a full two-angle video of my band's set opening for Billy Bragg if that's something y'all would be into :-)

sf.gazetteer.coRare footage of me thanking a politician: thanks to Senator Markey for speaking out against the dangerous “Kids Online Safety Act” censorship bill
Senator Markey showed real leadership yesterday by issuing this statement expressing concerns about the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) when it would have been easier to stay silent on a controversial bill. Senator Warren co-sponsored this bill despite human rights and civil liberties opposition
fightforthefuture.orgEvan Greer here. Someone finally professionally filmed my band playing a festival gig and we look real cute if you wanna check it out
youtube.comTaylor Swift and Travis Kelce got to buy MSG’s privacy. Her fans aren’t so lucky. Reports that Madison Square Garden temporarily shut off its facial recognition system for Swift’s wedding expose a glaring problem with how the elite wield and control mass surveillance.
ms.nowHow do I kayak / paddleboard here? (I tried to put in at Gibson Park but it is under construction) Have others done this?
My org is running a campaign getting artists to pledge to boycott venues that use AI facial recognition surveillance, and venues to pledge to never use it. Can folks here who are artists sign on and/or send to their favorite artists and ask them to sign? DIY venues can sign too!
banfacialrecognition.comi posted this little tribute for Erik Petersen yesterday (it's been 10 years since we lost him) and thought some folks here might want to read / see it
Erik Petersen (aka Mischief Brew) probably influenced me more than any other songwriter as a young artist. He was kind and generous to me when i just starting out, and you can hear the influence of his brash folk-punk poetry in my early recordings.
We lost Erik 10 years ago today. A toast friend 🥃
I was lucky enough to be going to school outside Philly in the early 2000s and remember playing shows with Erik, mostly solo tho a few times with the full Mischief Brew band, at Fiume, the tiny anarchist bar, west Philly basements like the Cat Box and others names long forgotten, the UU church, a weird punk club in Stroudsburg, a house show in Kutztown, PA when I remember bringing Erik a bottle of whiskey because I had just turned twenty one 😆
There were a bunch of shows in Boston, nyc, Florida I think?? We would cross paths at this or that festival.
Erik gave me some blunt and pragmatic advice about getting started in music and also about my songs and my rhetoric and dogma. He was little guarded with me, I think like many others. Obviously he had serious struggle going on that none of us saw, despite the nihilistic streak that ran through his music (overshadowed by his righteous and undying championing of the underdogs downtrodden and oppressed). But he also had such an intense cult following, and so many people wanted things from him all time. It was intense to see.
Erik is and will forever be the folk-punk poet laureate. He was rolled through the gates of hell 10 years ago today. July 14, 2016. Miss you Erik. Rest in power (and analog)
here's my band playing our anti-ICE anthem "Come Thru Us" while opening for Billy Bragg. we folked-out for this set with an upright bass and stripped down drum kit and it was a lot of fun :-)
Update on Massachusetts social media legislation: the Senate has released their proposal. It's a major improvement from the House bill, but still raises some civil liberties concerns
