would you rather : get broken up with during exam season or your pet pass away during midterms

my friends and i have had a rough start to this year and during our hang out, we were comforting each other but then realized what we were going through were all collectively bad but couldn’t decide which one was worse.

this is really specific but these are the conditions of the would you rather. i know it’s so specific but that’s what makes it tricky so which one is worse the break up or the pet because so far my data (i’ve asked 38 random people on campus) said about the same, so my data was literally an even split.

would you rather

1. get broken up in a very healthy long term relationship (over 1.5 years) during exam season, i’m talking about - you’ve met each others parents, grandparents, went on vacation with their family and together. the reason for the break up is that you still love each other but shouldn’t be together, and for whatever reason, without cheating, abuse or manipulation, they still love you but no longer wanna be with you. your friends and friend groups are separate though, so you lose no friends just your significant other. and btw no buildup to the break up just out of nowhere they said they don’t wanna be with you no more. everyone you know and everyone they know thought you two would get married one day kinda uni relationship. can not exaggerate the extremely healthy and normal part.

2. have your pet that you’ve grown up with, loved, taken care of all your life pass away right before your first midterm, i’m talking 10+ years and this is midterms before reading week meaning during reading week you would’ve seen them and hung out with them. also no buildup to the death of the pet, just sudden shock, and no you didn’t get a chance to say goodbye you just woke up to the news right on the morning of your first midterm. the midterm is not MSAFable and can not get reweighed meaning if you fuck up the midterm you fuck up a good chunk of the course, and even if you get it reweighed your exam is now astronomically heavy in weight.

if you have any questions about each option id be happy to elaborate

a question for yonsei gsb mba students

hey i’m in my final year of undergrad in canada and am thinking about going to yonsei gsb mba.

i want to know if anyone is in that program currently
• how it’s going for you and if you enjoy the program?
• what is the faculty like?
• how the split between students (male/female, with or without work experience)
• how’s the work load like - courses, typical schedule etc
• how’s the curriculum?
• what programs/events/student support is offered for GSB students?
• as a global (foreign) masters student in korea, how do you find life in seoul given the cultural differences - quality of life i guess is the question
• if you’ve graduated, how was your overall experience.
• how was the application process for you
• what made you choose an mba in korea and in yonsei specifically?

also only if you’re willing to share,,,
• where did you do your undergrad (not school but country)
• if you’d be willing to tell me how the admissions process was, specifically gpa (even ball park, you don’t need to give me exact numbers but like a range of 3.3-3.7 or 3.6-4.0 would be so helpful)

i’m trying to make a decision in either staying in canada or leaving. i’m a dual citizen of canada and korea but i only grew up abroad so my korean passport exists, but ive never lived in korea. im fluent in korean but ill definitely need to study, i got a level 5 in topik, but im studying towards a level 6.

thanks in advance

Uoft Masters in Philosophy of Science, how’s the program

hey i’m in my final year of undergrad philosophy (not uoft) and am thinking about going to uofts master of philosophy of science because throughout my undergrad i’ve really enjoyed the intersection between philosophy and sciences, logic, ethics - tech and bio, and took courses in philosophy of: sex, science, biology, mind, knowledge and my prerequisite courses of course.

i want to know if anyone is in that program currently, how it’s going for you and if you enjoy the program? how’s the work load, how’s the curriculum and did you start your undergrad at uoft or no. also if you’d be willing to tell me how the admissions process was, specifically gpa (even ball park) that would be so helpful.

i’m trying to make a decision in either staying in canada or leaving and i’ve always wanted to go to uoft but my parents didn’t let me for my undergrad so this felt like a good opportunity.

thanks in advance

ambitious but difficulty being consistent/disciplined

i used to be so ambitious but as time goes by i feel my ambitions falling and i feel like im ruining my own life. i’ve been going to therapy for 3 years and my life is better than before but it’s not significantly better. idk i just thought by 24 i would be more disciplined and consistent as a student, (final year of undergrad but was diagnosed with adhd halfway through, while being told it was depression and anxiety growing up) but here i am deferring an exam for my summer course because i forgot to book my exam, writing 3 deferred exams from my winter semester next week due to a concussion back in winter sem, and im seeing my friends live and have lives they can be proud about and i still feel like im in the same place not going anywhere.

i know what i have to do but i find that it is the most simple and easy things, that i have the most difficulty in.

dumbass question but how have you guys stayed consistent/disciplined throughout your prelaw journey

i see so many of you with ecs and volunteering and internships and lsat study schedules and goals and obviously self comparison is the slow killing of oneself, but i’m just always amazed and astounded at the level of dedication. i know this might sound stupid but i found out i had adhd only 2 years ago (im in my early 20s) and that revelation has screwed with me cause i was a straight A student until uni and i feel like im failing at life because adulting is so hard. im figure out how to deal with consistency and discipline, balancing school and stress and personal life etc.

i really admire anyone who is able to put their foot forward even on the rainy days and do the work because for me, even doing the bare minimum for classes are so hard sometimes.

i would love to hear your journey of being consistent with prelaw (lsat + ecs) or overcoming hardships (road blocks) or academic comebacks because right now i feel like im not good enough for law school cause im just trying figure out how to adult properly lol

to the moderators, if this is a stupid question and inappropriate post i’m sorry, im just really amazed at everyone and anyone who tries i think it’s really admirable and i’d like that for myself

(rant) to the profs who shut off access to course content before the semester ends / exams, i actually hate you

It's literally free to keep the chapters/units open on a2l. Mind you, I paid tuition for the course content, so if you wanna close it early, I want a portion of my tuition back. Why you close the chapters/units before the semester ends is beyond me. Some of us take longer to learn and get work done, and others learn at a different pace and at different times.

Btw, this doesn't apply to closing units and chapters during test times (to prevent cheating), like shutting off access on the day of the exam/test/midterm and then reopening it after or closing the drop box after the due date; those are separate things. I'm talking about completely removing access so students can't access the material, not assignments, learning material, for the rest of the course.

If that's the case, then why make your exam cumulative? I know so many of my friends who are auditory learners, and they don't write notes but rewatch and listen to the lecture over and over again, and you take it out of their hands. I've met some great profs at Mac, but for the ones who limit access, I hope you know you're making it hard for students to succeed.

I might be overreacting, but the amount of times the prof was like "the exam is cumulative" and i would be like, "then can you open the units so I can access the materials because I don't download everything, and I want to rewatch the lectures", and theyre like "no". and then ill go to academic advising and they'll be like, "you should talk to the department chair", no my ass should be sitting on a chair studying the content not talking to the department chair tf

i just don't understand why you make it so difficult when im literally trying to prepare and review content goddamn. Accessing the content doesn't even affect my grades, me simply watching a lecture won't increase my grades by anything. i'm literally trying to study i hate yall so much sometimes, like just because you have a phd and i don't, doesn't mean you can be a dick to me. the last time i checked, phd means "doctor of philosophy", not being a "pretty huge dick", i hate yall so much. open the goddamn units im just trying to study

to the profs who keep it open, you keep doing you! i appreciate you so much <3

(doing this during fall or winter pisses me off but pulling this bullshit on me during the spring summer courses when the courses are done in a month is diabolical, actual evil human behaviour)

(Update: I emailed him to open up the access and he said i should drop the course i-)
