Dirty resort room

I just checked out from a one night stay at all star music. We are local-ish and have AP so we come pretty frequently. This was my first negative experience at a Disney resort.

We didn’t get to the room to settle in until almost midnight, which is when I noticed the issues, but since it was so late and I was too tired for the hassle I decided I would just address it in the morning.

I just went up to the front desk and asked to share some concerns about the room cleanliness. I had to wait at the desk about 10 minutes for a manager to come. When she came I explained there was hair in the sheets and on the blanket, on the toilet seat, in the shower and stuck under the dining table in the room. There was also visible sticky soap scum on the little toiletry shelf in the shower, dried mystery liquid stains (coffee or soda maybe?) under the dining table, as well as dust and hair on the baseboards all around the room. I very politely (maybe too polite?) explained the situation and offered to show pictures, but the manager just said “okay I’ll let housekeeping know”.

I didn’t push for anything because I was hoping they would offer, so I just walked away and left it alone.

What would you expect in this case, an apology, a partial refund or some other type of compensation or nothing at all? Or how would you handle an issue like this?

What did you do early in your journey to increase your chances of success?

I am 3 weeks into burn boot camp after not working out consistently for pretty much my entire adult life. I am a mid 30's F who started burn because the scale was creeping up, I am getting annoyed with myself for not prioritizing my health, and I finally realized I need to kick my butt into gear.

I did my first follow up weigh in today and was quite discouraged upon seeing that I actually gained 3 pounds overall, although 1 pound was muscle increase if that matters. I know it's not a race, I know I can't expect results right away, and I know the scale can fluctuate from day to day and is not the be all end all to my journey.

However, I was really shocked to see that at this point, after consistently working out for 3 weeks and doing (mostly) my best to make good choices with nutrition, I'm now at the highest weight I have ever been in my entire life, even more than when I was 41 weeks pregnant.

Can anybody share any tips or small changes they made along with consistently working out that helped to move your progress along and start to see actual changes, not only in the scale, but in how you look in the mirror and feel overall? I'm not ready to give up yet, but I think I need to double down and get even more serious about this.

Realistic expectations for a newbie?

I tried a class for the first time today. It was arm day. I am a total slacker when it comes to regular exercise. Walking into a normal gym is overwhelming to me and I never know what to do, so I eventually give up and don’t come back. All the other gyms in my area besides burn offer group exercise classes at times that don’t work for my schedule, so I thought I’d give burn a try.

I like the guidance from the trainer, the frequent change up of activities and the class times.

Before I commit to a 6 or 12 month package, I’m wondering what I can reasonably expect from this if I commit to going 3-4 times per week? I am slightly overweight and definitely out of shape. I’d like to lose about 20 pounds and build up my endurance.

I’m surprised there wasn’t as much cardio in the class as I expected. Did I just go on a weird day? Does it depend on the focus of class that day? Is it expected to do cardio independently outside of class?

Palmetto bug nightmare

I wish it was just a bad dream, but it’s reality!! I’m having an issue with palmetto bugs in my house and hoping someone can reassure me that this will get fixed or let me know if I should be doing anything else to rid these demons from my home.

I’ve been using the same pest control company for preventive maintenance for 10 years now. 2 years ago I moved to a new house and kept using the same company for treatment services every 3 months like clockwork.

The last 2 years I’ve been in my new house I only saw a live palmetto bug 1 or 2 times, until the last month when it started becoming a frequent thing.

The last visit I had from pest control was 4 weeks ago. About a week after, I started seeing a live palmetto here or there in the bathrooms every couple of days. After 2 weeks of that I called the tech to come back out and service again. He came yesterday and did another treatment with gel bait and spray, both inside and out. I’ve also done extra things on my end like covering sink and tub drains, taking out trash daily, sweeping and mopping daily and not leaving food or water sources out.

Imagine my horror when I woke up in the middle of the night to a palmetto bug straight from the depths of hell crawling on my arm. Literally my #1 fear come true. I woke up and managed to kill it. But I’m traumatized. I bought a tent to sleep in over my bed until I get this resolved. Otherwise my next option is sell my house and move out.

The pest control guy said he didn’t see any obvious entry points that I need to seal off, and that I should just give it another week or so from yesterdays visit to see some improvement. Please tell me this is true. Can this be fixed?? HELP!!??
