Should I stay at one hotel or two?

I'm in Orlando for 12 or 13 days and planning to stay at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort. I want to spend the first half of the vacation seeing the Universal parks and the other half at Disney. But I'm curious if I should switch to a hotel near Disney or stay at the Cabana the whole trip and just take an uber to Disney.

Success with Groceries from Door Dash at Yacht Club?

Staying at the Yacht Club for four nites in late July and wanted to see if anyone has had experience using Door Dash to deliver water, snacks and the like. We have done this at Saratoga and Contemporary but that was five or so years ago and I know some policies have changed around the Resorts and they charge a processing fee now.

I’m not concerned about the extra fees - it will be more than worth it for the bottled waters alone! But I find mixed results on the Internet about whether the bell stand at the Yacht Club will accept the Door Dash order if we are not there to receive it.

We’re not landing our first day until about 5PM so it will be close to 6PM when we get to the resort but we’re planning to hop straight to Disney Springs for a dinner reservation. I don’t want to have to be available to meet a Dasher to pick up the order and was hoping that the bell stand could receive it and even deliver it to our room later.

Anyone doing this / have done something like this recently?

Thanks!

Split Stay WDW

I used my bounce back offer to plan a trip for next June. We currently are booked at the Wilderness Lodge in a water view room. I am hoping to change to a deluxe studio at WL, AKL, or Riviera. We loved AKL but want to check out something different. My question is with a split stay - Riviera plus somewhere else.

My question... Has anyone ever used a bounce back offer and bought points (say with David's) on one vacation? ( I can't divide my bounce back between 2 resorts.)

WiFi Quality in Resorts

Hey random question: how’s the WiFi quality at Disney resorts? Is it pretty consistent?

Asking because I’m considering a little bit of a longer stay in December and wondering if I could work out of the hotel room during a few days and explore the parks in the evening. A lot of my work is video calls so hoping for consistent bandwidth for that.

Coronado Springs Resort

We’re a family of 4 with 2 kids ages 2 and 4. We’re planning a 5 night trip for later this year and are eyeing up a stay at Coronado Springs, likely in a non-tower room. Has anyone ever just hung out in the open air walkways directly outside their room when the kids are napping and sleeping? Are there room chairs you can bring out temporarily? If so, does it feel like you’re significantly in the way of people walking past?

Has anyone done this at the other moderate resorts too?

For background, we’ve previously stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek which is great for the amount of space you get. However we want to try staying on property this time. One standout that we love at Bonnet Creek is having a patio that we can escape to when the kids are sleeping, but this isn’t offered unless you go deluxe. Unfortunately that’s not in the budget for this trip.

Swan/dolphin

Are swan and dolphin hotels impacted by the Disney Springs transportation crackdown? We typically stay at swan and take the bus from the boardwalk but I want to make sure we won’t get stuck there.

Looking for recs

My family is looking for an AI resort anywhere except Mexico (family issues) and the States. We've never been to one before and are sooo looking forward to it!

We're two adults and a 13 yr old girl, and looking for a good quality, huge resort with lots of activities - we'll be there for 7 nights. DD is a competitive swimmer and total water baby and so lots of water activities are a plus. Good food, access to a beach, pools etc. Any recs very appreciated!

Calling all Walt Disney World experts! Looking for 1st trip planning advice!

Hi everyone! Long post, but I would be sooo grateful to all/any of you experts for planning our first Disney family vacation! 🥳🥳🥳

My SIL & I just decided we’re going to Disneyworld, possibly in January or February. I’ve heard these are good times to visit, as they’re typically less busy after the holidays. Any input on that? Our trip will be 5 days/6 nights - 4 park days & one pool/resort reset day in the middle. We’ll fly in, check in at our hotel & stay on resort for swimming & dinner so we can get goood rest, & start park activities early the following day.

Our group will be myself, my husband, our son (3yo at time of visit), my SIL, her daughter (6yo), her son (4yo), & my MIL & FIL.

We will likely book accommodations through David’s Vacation Club (thanks to the aesthetician who recommended this to me many years ago!). We will need either 2 separate rooms or a 2 bedroom villa.

So far, I’m thinking Polynesian would be good for convenience, but I’d love recommendations for resorts based on our kids ages & how fun it would be for them. We definitely want to book deluxe for the extra after hours perks, & maybe club level for the additional bonuses.

We will get Park Hoppers & I am thinking one day we will book a VIP tour. I know it’s expensive, but lightening lane passes for all 7 of us for 2 parks would be as much anyways.

My thought is, we can do either Magic Kingdom or Hollywood studios early with the guide. We will hit all the kid friendly rides, then the grandparents can take the kids back to the resort in the car for rest/naps. My husband, SIL, & I can hit all the thrill rides at the morning park. Then we will head to the other park, & hit the thrill rides there before the kids & grandparents rejoin us for the rest of the day.

Looking for all your recommendations for dining, experiences, character meet ups, general tips & tricks!

I couldn’t be more excited, but I know nothing, & I know there’s SO many people with extensive knowledge. Thanks in advance for any input you might have! 🫶🏻

AKL vs WL in January

Hello everyone....!!

Question:

in January would you stay at AKL- 1800 for 4 days (resort view)

OR

WL- 1900 ( resort view) .

Main parks we visit are HS and AK (wouldn't mind exploring more of MK and Epcot during the cooler months) We don't mind distance either!!!. Just want a relaxing hotel : )

Side note: we plan on going to epic universe/ Universal for a couple days as well and plan on doing a split stay at POFQ during that time

TV Volume when I connect my iPad to watch a movie -

Hello! My wife and I stayed at the Yacht Club in April - loved it. Hadn’t been to that resort since they refurbished the pool.

Anyway, we were in the midst of watching Daredevil: Born Again at the time and so I unplugged the HDMI cable in the back of the room’s TV and connected it to an Apple Adapter and then to my iPad Mini to stream our Disney+ account and watch the show.

Well, we could get picture all day long - and sound - but the VOLUME of the TV was super super loud! The TV remove for the room wouldn’t control the volume of the TV - it only appears to work with the in-room stream that I had disconnected temporarily by unplugging the HDMI Cable.

Has anyone else attempted this and if so, have you found a way to control the volume? We ended up connecting our AirPods to my iPad Mini to listen to the show that way which wasn’t the best experience.

Thanks!

Resorts sold out for July 4th weekend but…

… theme park reservation calendar shows all parks are available for the same time. I’m a Fl res and went last year at the same time bc they dropped rates right before the holiday.

So far my searches are showing all resorts except AOA are booked. I’m just wondering how can that be if all the parks have availability? I’d like to do either the Fl res deal or the Disney + deal but again, things are showing sold out. Any insight?

Holiday discount issues

Hi! I’m new to this sub so hopefully this is an appropriate ask. I’m having issues applying the holiday discount to my already booked reservation. I know the discount came out this week so I’m thinking the site is down due to heavy traffic?? Not sure if this is happening to anyone else. I’ve cleared my cache/cookies multiple times and have done this on different devices like my ipad and it still won’t go through. I also tried both discounts to see if one didn’t apply to my vacay. I’ve tried for the past three days and it still won’t go through.

Dirty resort room

I just checked out from a one night stay at all star music. We are local-ish and have AP so we come pretty frequently. This was my first negative experience at a Disney resort.

We didn’t get to the room to settle in until almost midnight, which is when I noticed the issues, but since it was so late and I was too tired for the hassle I decided I would just address it in the morning.

I just went up to the front desk and asked to share some concerns about the room cleanliness. I had to wait at the desk about 10 minutes for a manager to come. When she came I explained there was hair in the sheets and on the blanket, on the toilet seat, in the shower and stuck under the dining table in the room. There was also visible sticky soap scum on the little toiletry shelf in the shower, dried mystery liquid stains (coffee or soda maybe?) under the dining table, as well as dust and hair on the baseboards all around the room. I very politely (maybe too polite?) explained the situation and offered to show pictures, but the manager just said “okay I’ll let housekeeping know”.

I didn’t push for anything because I was hoping they would offer, so I just walked away and left it alone.

What would you expect in this case, an apology, a partial refund or some other type of compensation or nothing at all? Or how would you handle an issue like this?
