Silly me not counting nights correctly.

This is a me problem but I wanted to share. The website said 7 nights and I counted the days instead of the nights. That always confuses me but I think I know now. Count each little calendar box, starting from the first box, that’s the night and then you check out the next DAY at 11am!

Thankfully I booked a changeable flight and the flight difference wasn’t too bad.

Down rides

Someone said why I would not expect WDW not to fix rides in the heat dome. I found this chart as part of touring plan’s book (the unofficial guide to WDW 2026)

So, it is common and I now will plan around it.

If you plan around it, what are your plans?

Im a renter of points. Booked an “confirmed reservation” through DVC Shop.

Any experience from either side?

Haven’t heard back with confirmation email.

I got the first email that they got my money lol.

It’s for xxx to xxx so last minute.

As an aside, right after I booked it, a much cheaper 7 night stay opened at the contemporary which I would have preferred doh! For xxx

Any advice?

Edit: I got confirmation !

I deleted dates in the above post for more privacy even though I know it can still be seen, it’s something. lol.

Just want to give a shout out to Disney customer service

I wish I could use more than one flair.

I just called Disney customer service phone number for Non-Reservation questions.

I had some basic questions about crocs. I had seen they were or were not permitted. Also, other questions about what I could and could not bring and the answer is actually nuanced.

I called and they answered almost immediately to a HUMAN person who was so kind and took his time to answer any and all my questions.

Thank you John! He clarified what I needed to know. My questions were very specific to my family and I don’t want to share my questions at this time on this sub.

I did want to share that Disney customer service phone number is awesome 👏👏👏

Also, I got great feedback to a lot of my detailed questions from Google AI Mode.

I know a lot of folks are like me with a lot of basic questions posted on this sub and I wanted to share those two additional sources of info — in case you get downvoted. 🤪🤪

How do you plan meals when you stay on property? If you stayed at BLT, grabbing a late snack, how easy is it?

What did you eat while at BLT? How many advanced dinning reservations did you make? I’ve never stayed on property on my own dime. I did when I was a nanny but I just used the family’s CC and I was 18 years old (lol). Its very different being 40 and it’s my CC 🤪🤣🤣

My family usually stays off property and we eat in the parks when in the parks and usually just a lot of chick fil a, while out of the park.

Ideas about how to do Disney “right” for my family

Get a cheapy hotel. I particularly like Extended Stays but I don’t know how the one in Lake Buena Vista’s shape is in. I usually stay Marriott Springhill Suites and the ones near Disney are very striped down compared to every other Marriott Springhill anywhere else in the country. From what I can see on the website, the Extended Stays seems a little bit more stripped down but hopefully it won’t be falling apart.

My plan is MK as priority. I plan on getting the Premier Pass if possible. At least one day.

I plan on getting an AP pixie three ppl -hubby, me, kid 17 (but autistic he will be forever a 5 yr old in the most fun way possible). Or the higher levels, maybe even sorcerer.

Last time we went we did get DAS but even w/ DAS we got to do like 4 rides. I thought I knew Disney esp MK but no. The smartphone thing and the app… uy… I don’t like it. Lol.

The other thing I want is to stay at least one day at Beach Club bc I got FOMO about their resort pool. I want to at least enjoy it one time lol.

I might stay at Extended Stay for 2 weeks and the rest of the time leisurely get to know Disney’s nook and crannies.

I might do MK w/o Premier Pass first to really get to know the layout and the rides and then go back w/ Premier to do all the rides. I’m not going to fiddle with my phone with LLMP and be stuck looking at my phone. Not going to do that. I had to do that w/ DAS which is inevitable to some extent but I just want to limit that extent as much as possible.

We will always have a car. Rent or there is an autobus Amtrak train near me.

Or maybe just a few days for MK and return for the other parks?

I just have never done 4 parks one trip when I lived in FL. I live in FL part of the year due to my job. One trip, one park is usually how I did it growing up. Through church group or school or family.

Any takes on my way of thinking? Things to keep in mind?

Trips to Disney
A million times in the 90s up to 2008
One time 2012
One time 2026

Can’t overstate the shock of how different everything was.

Edit to add: in 2026 I went in Jan. I really like Jan to go. Very cool. I got the opportunity to use a Disney resort hotel pool and I LOVED it!! I LLOVED it soooo much. The pool was bath tub warm. The towels were thick. It was magic.

Are these updates to make your gadgets blow up with bloat ware and then you have to buy the next generation bc they start to lag??

Just had to update my watch. Gah! I hate updates. I just know it’s a way to make my gadgets stop working.

Comparing Stormalong Bay to Typhoon or Blizzard… have you been to all three to give an opinion?

Like the title says, how would you compare Storm Along Bay to the two other water parks?

I’m guessing Storm Along Bay is a better experience bc it’s less crowded?

What is the actual truth about how crowded it feels?

I’ve been reading different websites from first hand accounts of recent visits.

The first hand account that sticks in my mind was (or two?) was ppl who went 1st week of June. They said there were THRONGS of ppl everywhere. The outdoor spaces. The restaurants. The lines. And these ppl were AP holders, everyday ppl. Ppl who know how Disney usually feels. (They said 🤷🏻‍♀️)

But then I check touring plans and currently they have the crowd numbers at 3 and 4 for the next 7 days, maybe two weeks?

What do you think of these discrepancies?

Has anyone had a keratin straightening treatment and then gone back to the curly hair method? Hair loss comparison?

So, currently I usually just walk around with frizzy terrible hair lol.

Sometimes I get a blowout and that will last me 3 days bc I’m in the NE USA.

I knew about the curly method and it’s working out!

But I notice that with the curly hair method I lose a lot of hair.

A lot of hairstylists have actually deterred me from keratin (they say bc it will flatten my hair. But I also know it depends on which type of keratin treatment.)

  1. as my title says:
Has anyone had a keratin straightening treatment and then gone back to the curly hair method? Hair loss comparison?

  2. Does anyone do the curly hair method in South FL? If you’ve been to the NE USA vs S.FL, how has your routine changed?
