Recently indians took to the streets against the indian government for its mishandling of the exams.

What has followed has been a coordinated series of doxxing and harrasment by hindutva forces. as this articles goes into it they dox them and then harras them (often with the help of their familes) into forcing these female protestors into recanting. This has inculded a literal 15 year old girl being harrased using a FIR by a literal supreme court lawyer. Now I dont like to take a strong hardline stance on most issues but I must say i dont know in what world a lawyer at the supreme court is justifeid in launching an harrasment of a 15 year old for insutling the PM. Forgive me for this question but isint the indian court system facing a backlog? isint there more productive uses of government lawyers time then harrasing literal teenagers.

There was an attack on a kosher restaurant recently, which has followed a spat of other attacks on jewish establishments in Canada.

"The Nöam fire is the latest in a rapid drumbeat of attacks on Jewish targets in Canada. Last week, in Toronto, a gunman fired at the windows of one branch of Kiva’s Bagel Bar, a Jewish-owned bakery chain, about an hour after vandals had shattered the glass front of another location. In June, a man smashed a window at Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom, a Reform congregation in Montreal, and tried to start a fire inside."

What is most interesting however is the reaction. The article delves into the Jewish community and its mood. the mood is rather resigned; they feel like the government doesn't give a shit. There is blame of foreign politicians and domestic politicians. There is a sense that all they get is platitudes and nothing is being done. Most of all is a sense that people are telling jews that its not antisemitism; one of the people interviewed calls it gaslighting, just telling them that it is not a problem at all.

Anyhow, what makes this article interesting is the picture it paints of the Jewish Canadian mood in the reaction to a season of attacks. To anyone who knows anything about south indian states, one knows about the Cauvery River dispute. This dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has resulted in anti-Tamil pogroms in the 90s, bitter clashes, natavist sentiment rising. Well, another round of spats has broken out over the river sharing as the body in charge of it has increased the amount of water being sent to Tamil Nadu. Karnataka is beset by a harsh drought, which has only raised the stakes as farmer and nativist groups have joined forces to protest Vijay.

I am not explaining this well. Still, for discussing interstate federalism in India and water scarcity, this is crucial.

Also, it does raise questions like. Why does a CM still release movies like is there a Conflict of interest?

Every election in India the moon , the sun, and the stars are promised to the voters. Then comes election time, and whoever wins has to account for those promises
So whats a government to do ? Well, it can add hoops and kind of try to say "conditions apply," such as adding restrictions and limitations so that actually they dont have to pay as much. They can just try to welch on it (untill the next election where they recall it exists) or, worse of all they can actually pay it.
This is very bad for development because money spent or promised on handing goodies out isn't money for actual infrastructure.

now there is a limit. Himachal Pradesh going into a financial meltdown is probably a big warning sign. There is also a provision in the Indian Constitution, Article 360, under which the Centre can step in to fix things. Personally speaking, Article 360 is a bit like german Bundeszwang/article 37. I don't think its been used yet but when it does its gonna be very interesting

"Ministers will come and go, but if you want to cut the roots of the problem, start with NEET. Decentralise all technical admissions and restore to the states their autonomy. Abolish NTA. Treat the states as adults in our federal family. Legalise educational institutions for profit and let hundreds more colleges rise. I’d go as far as to say, scrap the Emergency-era 42nd Amendment that made education a concurrent subject and thereby restore to the states their autonomy. It won’t happen, but there’s no harm in suggesting."

Who rules India's states and union territory? who are these 31 people? Well, a lot of them (45% ) have criminal cases a lot of them are rather rich and well educated

The biggest news in indian poltics at the moment was the CJP protests and the fall of the education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a long-term RSS figure and a key BJP figure in the state of Odisha which was pivotal to helping modi stay in power.

This article goes into detail about who he was and what he did before his fall inculding his key role in building the BJP in odisha and beating one of the most popular CM's in India. He helped to manage the BJP in Up and other states and was close to Amit Shah.

put simply the indian oppostion after a shockingly good run in the 2024 lok sabah election, has done poorly for itself. Right now its a fractured, declining mess. Shekhar gupta argues this offers a possibility for Congress to revive from the ashes of the other small parties. Frankly i find myself thinking this as well. Its party unit in Maharashtra still has not recovered from the NCP defection; it lost most of its West Bengal and all of its Andhra Pradesh support to the TMC and YSCRP. Well now look at those parties.

Incidentally reading between the lines its seems that Karnataka's massive promises of freebies is starting to bite it in the ass hence its looking for a way to cut costs "The government also hopes to remove ineligible beneficiaries of its flagship ‘guarantee’ schemes and bring down high implementation costs."

Six in ten citizens of Serbia believe that democracy is the best political system, yet the same proportion believe that democracy in Serbia does not actually work. Citizens, in other words, have not lost faith in democracy as such; they have lost confidence that the state functions democratically. This is what the latest public opinion survey shows, conducted in June 2026 by CRTA and the Democracy Action Lab (DAL) at Stanford University.

The findings point to strikingly polarized attitudes among citizens, depending on their political preferences as well as their sources of information. Those who rely primarily on pro-government media, including the public broadcaster, hold diametrically opposed views on democracy, corruption, and institutions compared to those who follow critically oriented media or get their news from social networks. Serbian society effectively functions as two parallel realities: democracy as the best system of government is supported by 85 percent of supporters of the Student List, compared with just 38 percent of Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) voters.

Two thirds of citizens believe that the President and the government must respect constitutional limits regardless of the level of public support they enjoy, and that presidential power without parliamentary oversight is unacceptable. However, once political preferences are taken into account, around 80 percent of the ruling party’s supporters consider unchecked executive power justified, compared with only 2 percent of those aligned with the Student List.

Only about a third of citizens say they trust political institutions. 34 percent trust the government, and 31 percent trust the National Assembly. Citizens’ trust in institutions is eroding. Trust in the presidency has nearly halved in three years: in February 2023, 60 percent of citizens expressed trust in the President, compared with just 35 percent today. In contrast to political institutions, state universities and the church remain institutions in which a majority of citizens place their trust. 71 percent trust state universities, followed by 64 percent who trust the Serbian Orthodox Church.

More than half of Serbia’s citizens consider corruption to be an extremely serious problem. When it comes to responsibility for its prevalence, 38 percent blame the political system as a whole, while an additional 16 percent specifically blame the current government. SNS voters, by contrast, attribute responsibility to the previous government and to the “Serbian mentality.”

The protests triggered by the collapse of the canopy have shown no decline in support even a year and a half later. Support for the protests has remained stable at 60 percent, a trend consistent since April of last year. Nearly two thirds of citizens (62 percent) are concerned about the use of police force against protest participants.

In the context of anticipated early parliamentary elections, support for the protests is translating into potential votes for the Student List. Nevertheless, a non-negligible share of citizens, despite widespread support for the protests, distrust in state institutions, and dissatisfaction with the state of the country, remain politically undecided (12 percent) or say they will not vote at all (9 percent). Among decided voters (70 percent), 44.9 percent would currently vote for the Student List, 35.7 percent for SNS and 3.8 percent for the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). No other political actor independently clears the electoral threshold.

The survey was conducted between 10 and 24 June 2026, using face to face interviews with a representative sample of 2,324 adult citizens of Serbia.

"While perpetrators of anti-Jewish harassment and violence are a small minority in democratic societies, they rely on a larger number of people who justify such aggression or silently condone it. Using data from nationally representative surveys of the Norwegian population, I report two studies investigating whether endorsement of Holocaust inversion—the belief that Israel treats Palestinians as badly as Jews were treated during World War II—is associated with (a) justification of harassment and violence against Jews and (b) refusal to take a stance against such aggression. Study 1 (N = 1,575) found support for both hypotheses. In a preregistered replication, Study 2 (N = 1,653) confirmed these results. Follow-up analyses found that endorsement of Holocaust inversion was also associated with refusal to answer questions measuring blatant antisemitic prejudice. The findings support theorizing that sees Holocaust inversion as a socially more acceptable vehicle for expressing and legitimizing antisemitic hostility."

This is the first of several research papers I intend to be posting about antisemitism. These papers I think are invaluable in giving a more detailed insight into antisemitism. Furthermore since this sub is debating it I think that reading the first part of this paper which goes into some of the literature about it is super helpful.

Now the author warns against generalization and i concur. But i think this paper still should spark some interesting discussion.

"Drawing on social psychological insights that see perpetrators of outgroup aggression as morally motivated, that is, acting based on expectations that others will justify or at least silently condone their acts (Fiske & Rai, 2015), as well as theoretical and empirical accounts that suggest Holocaust inversion functions as a norm-compatible outlet for expressing anti-Jewish hostility (Haury, 2025; Hirsh, 2018; Tabarovsky, 2022), I hypothesized that endorsement of Holocaust inversion would be associated with justification of aggression against Jews and refusal to take a stance against such acts. Across two studies based on nationally representative surveys conducted 5 years apart in Norway, findings provide evidence that people endorsing Holocaust inversion beliefs are more likely to justify harassment and violence against Jews and refuse taking a stance against such acts. Compared with those who rejected Holocaust inversion, people who endorsed it were approximately nine to 12 times more likely to justify aggression and three times more likely to refuse answering the question.

Although respondents who justify aggression remain a minority, the fact that roughly one in eight adults in a nationally representative sample affirms that such aggression can be defended indicates that these attitudes are practically, not just statistically, significant. Follow-up analyses further revealed that people with stronger Holocaust inversion beliefs were more likely to select impossible to answer when faced with questions designed to measure blatant antisemitic prejudice (e.g., “the Jews largely have themselves to blame for being persecuted”). Taken together, these findings support the notion that Holocaust inversion does not just reflect strong political views about the Israel–Palestine conflict but can function as a socially acceptable vehicle for expressing anti-Jewish hostility. Overall, results indicate that Holocaust inversion beliefs are associated with a more permissive stance toward antiJewish aggression.

With such beliefs endorsed by a third or more of the general population, they appear to have attained substantial normative acceptance in parts of the Norwegian public. This is cause for considerable concern because research on the psychology of intergroup conflict stresses the key role of normative climates in fueling or constraining outgroup aggression (Crandall et al., 2002; Fiske & Rai, 2015; Lickel et al., 2006; Saguy & Reifen-Tagar, 2022). Social norms provide information to potential aggressors about whether they can expect others to justify or condone their acts, thereby influencing the threshold for expressing prejudice and engaging in hostile behavior. To the extent that Holocaust inversion beliefs are widespread and normatively accepted, they may contribute to a climate in which antiJewish aggression is more readily tolerated"

after the West Bengal elections and the new Bihar Cm. There are Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Sikkim, Mizoram, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu.

Of these only one is up for election in 2027. That is Punjab, India, the only sikh majority state. This article goes into the outreach the BJP has made to the sikh population, including one of their officials calling those killed in the storming of the Golden Temple "shaheed" (martyrs)

since the party broke its historic alliance with SAD after the farmers protests its trying to go its own way and this article goes into how its doing that. Punjab is going to be a 4way contest SAD AAP INC and BJP.

As anyone intersted in indian poltics knows that along with the TMCplosion, there has been a second split in shiv sena under UBT. 2/3 of his MP's in the LS defected to the Shinde sena.

For those outside the loop, fundamentally the ruling party of India has gained another victory as the opposition fractures and defects and in general is rapidly sliding into disarray.
