Entered the Void

Hello!! After distrohopping for a while, I decided to finally settle down on one distro, and I chose Void Linux. I want to use Void as my daily driver and actually stick with it instead of reinstalling a new distro every day lol

I’ve already installed Void a couple of times before and today I did a clean install on my main pc. The handbook is pretty clear about everything and it’s pretty easy to follow, but there are still some things I want to make sure I’m doing correctly

First of all, I wanna say that I have a pc with Ryzen 5 5600x, RTX 3060 and 16gb of RAM. I plan on using a wayland compositor, like MangoWM.

  1. What services should I actually enable on a fresh install?
I currently only have dhcpcd enabled. I’ve seen mixed comments about elogind, seatd, dbus, polkit, etc. Some people say dbus already handles elogind automatically, others say to enable both. It messes me up a little, trying to understand what’s right and if it’s right for me

  2. Are there any good resources/websites/videos for setting up Void after installation?
The handbook is great, but I’d also like to see some practical examples or setups from experienced Void users

  3. PipeWire
On one of my earlier installs, I had issues getting PipeWire fully working. I think I understand it better now, but if anyone has recommendations for a clean PipeWire/WirePlumber setup on Void, I’d appreciate it.

  4. Any tips and tricks are much appreciated

I just want to make sure I’m getting the most out of this experience and I really wanna stick with Void, I love the concept and delivery. Thank you!!!

Distrohopping for 2 years was NOT a good idea

I’ve been distrohopping for 2 years and I just can’t stop on one and use it. I feel the urge and need in reinstalling and trying everything. I’ve tried many many distros, but I wanna find something that I can stay on. Currently, I use Arch with niri, but I want something more stable.

I need something lightweight (minimal), good for gaming, because I play a lot, and most importantly stable. When I say stable, I don’t mean Debian stable with old packages. I need new packages, but I want it to be stable. I don’t want some bullshit error popping on my screen first thing in the morning and having to deal with it. I don’t want to lose my config files or my personals files, I just wanna use it.

No ubuntu, no mint and fedora suggestions. I’ve been thinking about Void or NixOS, but I wanna see if people have any other options :))

Help reinstalling MacOS

Sooo, I know this is going to sound very stupid, but I ran a command without looking at it first… I’m not even going to discuss how stupid it was and the command itself, just going to say that some of my accounts got hacked.

So right now I want to nuke the whole thing and just reinstall MacOS so I don’t have whatever spyware or infostealer shit that I have right now. Do I just do it through the settings or recovery mode?

Just started playing

Hello! This is my first time playing factorio, did a little research and after about 4 hours of playing, this is my starting base. Any tips or suggestions? My only worry is the expansion, because after I unlock the black science, I dont know how to really expand it or what to do next

Hey guys, I’m looking for some advice because I’m an absolute zero when it comes to keyboards.

Right now I have an EPOMAKER x AULA F75 (black version with the gray stock keycaps), and I’m trying to find some really quiet switches. The keyboard mostly annoys my parents, and honestly I get it, I probably wouldn’t want to hear constant keyboard smashing either lol. I usually don’t notice it myself since I’m almost always wearing headphones and listening to music.

I’ve been looking into silent switches and saw a lot of people recommending the Outemu Silent Peach V3 / Silent Honey Peach V3, and BSUN Colored Glaze Silent Linear switches but I’m open to other suggestions too.

I mainly play games like Dota and CS, so I still need the keyboard to feel responsive. Sometimes I’m spamming spells like a maniac or just mashing keys during intense moments, so I want switches that stay relatively quiet even when I’m pressing hard.

I already use O-rings on my keycaps. They helped a little, but not nearly as much as I expected.

I’m also looking for some nicer keycaps because honestly I really don’t like the stock gray ones. I’m into more clean/minimal styles.

So mainly I'm looking for something that is quiet, and is led friendly

Would appreciate any recommendations for switches, keycaps, or even mods like foam, etc. Thank you!!

UPD: After searching for a while and reading all your comments, I decided to buy the TTC silent frozen v2. Hopefully they’ll be good and I’ll upload a photo and a sound test if I can when they arrive. Thank you everyone!

Finally sat down and decided to actually do it this time. Tried sometimes, but always didn't finish or just started distrohopping. It's still raw and not fully done, but I'm happy with where it's at right now!
