"OG, there's more to life than basketball!" –– OG Anunoby's 8th grade teacher Suzanne Luther On Monday as the Ogugua "OG" Anunoby Court was unveiled at his alma mater Jefferson City High School, Luther formally apologized to the NBA champion for uttering this blasphemy 15 years ago
"It haunts me to this day," Luther said
OG accepted her apology
"I moved to Jefferson City when I was 4," OG said in his speech. "I'm blessed to have grown up around so many amazing people"
"I played college basketball at Indiana…made the NBA and won 2 championships with the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks."
"But it all started with the people who believed in me in Jefferson City, supporting me from day one.”
"OG thought he was a baseball player," one of his coaches Jordan Chapman said. "Actually I'm pretty sure OG still thinks he's a baseball player."
"When they see OG on the screen and what they hear about him…it's true, it's who he really is," Chapman said.
"The person is a million times better than the basketball player," another coach Ray Hughes said. "His character, who he is and what he stands for. That's what I'm so honored to be a part of."
OG was also presented with his old violin, which he signed and will now be put on display in the orchestra room.
The court is where OG played and returns each summer to host a free basketball camp for boys and girls

Kyle on the big bear hug he gave OG after his buzzer beater in the bubble: KL: Me giving all my love to OG bc he’s such a cool dude, he works so hard & to make that shot in that moment, it meant more to me than I think it meant to him 🥺 OG: Look how happy he was. Great guy
Congrats Bacon, well deserved.
Cat owners can take one step to help change their cat’s life: scheduling a vet visit. I don’t wait until something’s off to check in with the experts. Preventative care is key for me just as much as it is for your pets. Schedule a wellness visit with your local @VCA Animal Hospital.

Royal Canin is donating 50,000 lbs of pet food ($300K) to shelters nationwide through us, in NBA champion OG Anunoby's name
Wanted to share some good news. After the Knicks won the title, OG Anunoby (who's clearly a cat guy) teamed up with Royal Canin, VCA Animal Hospitals, and Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) to launch "OG's Starting Five" — he personally picked five adoptable cats from ACC (Penne, Sammy, Roxie, Damu, and Lil Leo) to spotlight for adoption.
It worked fast: three of the five were adopted within days. Anyone who adopted one gets a free year of Royal Canin food and a free year of wellness exams at VCA.
The part that involves us directly: Royal Canin committed to donate 50,000 pounds of pet food, valued at around $300,000, to shelters nationwide through Greater Good Charities, in Anunoby's name. That's real food going to real shelters, not just a one-week PR moment.
ACC's communications director made a point that stuck with us: athlete-driven adoption campaigns like this genuinely move the needle, especially with younger people, at a time when shelters nationwide are stretched thin. Sammy and Roxie are still up for adoption if anyone's in the NYC area and wants a good cat.
