I told my grandma yesterday about the carnivore/ketovore diet without even realizing it.

Last night…. when I was helping my grandma for one of my weekly shifts at her assisted living facility, I ended up getting into carnivore talk with her a few minutes before I went home. I wanted to talk about it over the table in the dining room on the first floor, but I didn’t feel comfortable. Talking about my deep down passion and faith in a high-protein diet is something I feel I must talk to someone about privately! (That’s just me, maybe it’s what my mom thinks about it….)

Anyway I ended up telling her that it has really helped lower my depression a bunch and it’s had all these health benefits for me. She’s 87 years old and still eats lobster and beef and has a glass of milk with every meal and has two eggs for breakfast every morning.

Anyway, I’ve opened up to my mom about a mostly carnivore diet quite literally making me feel my best I’ve EVER felt, however, she has this idea deep down that it’s going to kill me someday. My mom genuinely believes that I will get a heart attack from all the 80/20 ground beef I eat. If anything, it lowers pain in my body and makes me feel stable, alive and incredibly healthy and strong.

Now my issue is being consistent with a high-protein/ketovore diet. I am so so glad my grandma was accepting of my genuine thoughts of this way of eating. I don’t think my grandma agrees that eating all this red meat will give either of us a heart attack!!!

I am my grandmother’s primary caretaker in assisted living.

Hi! I’ve been helping my grandma now for a few months (going on three now) and I help her out around nine hours a week. Three hours each shift. I’ll help her with cleaning dishes, taking out the trash, medication occasionally (going to meds office on 2nd floor), cleaning the cat litter box, sweeping her floor, etc. I do enjoy joining her for meals at the assisted living facility so that’s a nice plus.

I have experienced moments of fatigue/compassion fatigue and even some irritation while being with her. Mainly due to her shortening memory and redundant questions… but aside from that… I also really, really enjoy helping her. I feel completely accepted in her presence and we’ve gotten closer recently these past few months than I have ever been with her!! Tomorrow we are going to Lobster 🦞 Shack for dinner.

Anyway— I want to maintain this delicate balance of enjoying being her caretaker and all the connection and closeness I am building with her. She’s 87, and is in pretty decent health. Although, she is pretty reliant on her wheelchair and doesn’t get too much movement in. I suggested she receive physical therapy three times a week for her upper leg pain.

My question:
How do I go about handling the physical changes she will continue to go through? At the moment, I am essentially her primary caretaker in her last years. I know it’s not going to get any easier from here to be honest. But I wanna be there for her and be as much of a positive influence as I can be with her — while she’s still around. I love her dearly and she’s relatively easy to work with. I guess I just fear the physical and mental changes that have yet to come with aging and end of life care…

Anyone got any suggestions on how I can avoid severe compassion fatigue in the future? I am essentially just taking it day by day right now…

Thoughts on a cat grooming hammock?

My baby Valentina really needs her back claws trimmed. I am too scared to handle her alone with nail clippers. I’m worried she will scratch me or bite me. She is extra defensive because she has been declawed in the front. (Please no negative comments about this. She was my grandmother’s cat in her last years).

Does anyone use a cat grooming hammock for their hairless babies? Or have any recommendations??

What happened to this building? This used to be a Regal Theater.

How new is this? Wow, so many memories here back in high school to see so many movies 😭 this is making me a bit melancholy today, I haven’t driven past this theater in quite some
time. Maybe new ownership??? 🤔

I feel bad, but I really am terrible at taking care of houseplants.

I want to decorate my living space with hanging plants and some indoor house plants, but I just feel like I’m not committed to it. I put some succulent pieces outside on my patio in a wall of concrete pieces (cinder blocks) a few months ago. But with this heat where I live, I sadly couldn’t motivate myself to keep them watered often and they died with time. I ended up uprooting the entire garden and now my home is 100% plant free. Except for a bamboo plant in the guest bedroom.

I would love to have an easy way into this. Anyone here reading this into houseplants? Advice on how to maintain even just a few in good locations?

Hmmm— pretty sure I’m at least ambiamorous.

I just recently came to the realization (more like within the past two-three years) that I am definitely not strictly monogamous. I simply naturally happen to feel attraction to multiple people at once and I actually think I’ve always been this way. I have loved more than two people at once. I’ve only ever practiced monogamy up until very recently, I’d say within the past year or so. I find it very liberating. I don’t like to be placed in a box or have my attraction be placed on a box or be limited in such a way.

Don’t get me wrong, I am totally capable of investing a lot of energy into one person at a time, I just simply can’t see myself finding a life partner and choosing to be with /only them/ long term. I believe love is not finite and can and should be expressed in a more freeing way. I’ve always been curious about the idea of an open relationship. Or even just being flexible with relationship dynamics with a “primary partner” if that makes sense.

Anyway, I am still relatively new to polyamory/non-monogamy as a practice. I want to expand the love and compassion I have for myself so I can give it to others as well, with time.

So therefore I believe ambiamory or open to non-monogamy is the most accurate expression for me right now.

Reader, how did you come to the realization that you are non-monogamous?

❤️

Question about pending EOS Fitness Building in RSM.

Does anyone have a good feeling on when the new building might finally be open?

I’ve been going to the Ladera Ranch one for some time now but the RSM location will be so much closer to home!! :D
