Can’t believe I only upgraded now

I’ve been using a Kindle Paperwhite 7th Gen since 2017 and after nine years, I finally gave into the hype and ordered a Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen.

The larger touchscreen is so fluid and the warm brightness is a lot easier on the eyes. I love it! It’s still too early to give feedback on the battery life since I’ve only unboxed it a few hours ago. But the whole user experience has been life-changing. This must be how jumping from an iPhone X to an iPhone 17 feels like.

I’d like to add that I was nearly scammed last June 5 by someone pretending to sell Kindle devices on an e-commerce platform. Grateful that my boss called me for an impromptu 1:1 as I was haggling the price and the scammer’s account got suspended while I was in that meeting. Thank you, boss!

Three weeks later, I ordered through a family friend during Prime Day at a cheaper price than what the scammer was offering. Nearly two months later, the unit finally arrived from the States to Manila. Patience really pays off, guys. Always go through legitimate channels so that you won’t get swindled.

P.S. I’ll continue using my old device since it still works. The battery drains a lot faster after all these years but it can still power through an entire day. What are you reading?

Share ko lang that I was nearly scammed last June 5 by someone on Carousell. Grateful that my boss called me for an impromptu 1:1 as I was haggling the price and the scammer’s account got suspended while I was in that meeting. Thank you, boss!

Thank you everyone for your help!

I would like to show my appreciation to all the members here who have been encouraging and supportive throughout my PTE Academic journey. There were so many days leading up to the exam where I was stuck in a rut and could not seem to get a decent score in the mock tests, but seeing members post their results here made me believe that it is truly possible to get a superior score.

[EDIT] Sharing some tips as someone who only started studying two weeks before the test:

  • The Official Guide to PTE Academic is a helpful reviewer since it gives you an idea of what to expect in the test and how to approach the questions found in each section.
  • PTE Success and APEUni's mock tests are a lot more strict and unforgiving in terms of scoring. I felt like I poured out everything I could muster but I kept getting much lower scores in those mock tests compared to the actual test.
  • Subscribe to NEO English with Pam and E2's YouTube pages. The videos here contain useful methods and strategies for Describe Image, Summarize Group Discussion, and Respond to a Situation.
  • Get enough sleep the night before the exam. If you are taking the exam in the morning like I did, eat a light breakfast, limit fluid intake, and arrive early to the testing center. Settle down and take deep breaths before starting.
  • Do not dwell on any of the previous items that you feel you answered incorrectly. You cannot do anything about them anymore. Just focus on doing your best with the current question you are faced with.

Do your best and good luck!
