Golf Course Beggars

Hi all,

I've been enlightened by this subreddit and am inching towards the #EndTipping movement. This weekend I was playing a local golf course. For those that are unaware, after your round of golf, the carts are often wet, grassy, and muddy, so you drop them off in a spot where they get hosed down once you are done playing.

I was pulling up to the cart drop-off, and there was a big poster sign "Tips Greatly Appreciated" or some variation thereof. I understand golf is an expensive sport but considering I paid $18 PER PERSON in cart fees ($36 for 1 cart), I would expect the employees to not try to guilt me into tipping even more. What should I tip you for cleaning a cart I already used, and it takes 30 seconds with a hose? This is getting a bit ridiculous. Don't even get me started on the people that wipe down your clubs for 10 seconds and expect a tip.

Anyways, small rant over, wanted to get thoughts on this as I was waiting to post here since I left the course.

OSCP vs CPTS (With Context)

Hi reddit,

I'm sure this gets asked a lot. But my situation is a bit more unique. I'm looking to break deeper into Cyber. My current certs include the Net+, Sec+, GIAC GSEC and the GIAC GCIH. On that front, I have HR-recognition covered by my GIAC certs. I have no pentesting experience but have used THM and HTB every so often.

I am seriously considering taking the HTB CPTS as it is better at teaching you the concepts. But, I cannot get over how well-known the OSCP is by HR and employers. Is it worth it to take the exam that will teach me less, just to get more recognition?

Cost is not an issue as my employer confirmed they will cover the cost of either. Although I really want to LEARN and understand these concepts. Thank you!

Ideal Certification Path - Deeper in Cyber

Hi everyone. I have been in IT for around 2 years now. I am trying my hardest to get into a high-level cybersecurity job, and like everyone else, make tons of money. I am also very passionate about the field of Cybersecurity and IT in general.

I have a college degree in IT, and certs: Comptia Net+ and Sec+, GIAC GSEC and GCIH, and a few MS certs like AZ900 and SC900.

Im not exactly sure how to approach this next. I have great certifications for my age (mid 20s), don't have enough experience for CISSP, and can't afford another GIAC. What should I do?

Crystal Springs Resort Membership - Hamburg NJ

Hi everyone,

I'm relatively local to Crystal Springs resort / golf club, and am considering a membership.

They don't provide any pricing/F&B minimums etc. Before reaching out and filling out the interest form, I wanted to reach out to anyone and see if you have any experience with the membership. I really enjoy the courses they have, so I am considering a membership.

Some questions:

  • Pricing structure
  • Food and Bev Minimum (if any)
  • Guest discounts
  • Other cool perks or comments

Thank you!

Calling all Minecrafters!

I've been able to generate a google maps satellite view map of the entirety of the NJIT campus (as close to 1:1 as I can), excluding topography and import it into minecraft. The map is 850x950 blocks. The screenshot may not showcase the scaling, but it does look realistic.

Due to the size of the campus and desired level of detail and accuracy, I'm calling the help of all NJIT Minecrafters to build a 1:1 (or close) replica of the current NJIT campus. This includes all buildings, as well as elevation changes.

It's on a public server on Minecraft Java edition, and includes all tools such as WorldEdit and Axiom. If you have the skills, please DM me!

Brokerage and Retirement Pacing

Hi all,

23m just graduated about a year ago from uni. I gross about 80k ish per year.

Here is where I stand:
Checking: 3k
Brokerage: 7k
Roth IRA: 1.5k
HYSA: 2k
Student loans: -27k

I automate my investing every month, 250/month to my IRA, 250/mo to HYSA, 500/mo to my brokerage, and about 350/mo to student loans.

I’m trying to buy a house in less than 5 years. Coupled together me and my GF bring in around 145k yearly with very low cost of living. Any recommendations on how to achieve this goal?

GSEC Tips (Exam Soon)

Hello all,

My GSEC exam is coming up tomorrow, and just wanted some last-minute tips and reassurance. I tend to overcomplicate big exams like this. This is not my first GIAC exam as I previously passed the GFACT with a 91%, but this is the most difficult exam I've sat for.

I got a 79% on the first practice test, and am taking the 2nd one shortly. This has reassured me that I will meet the minimum passing score of 72% but I still always have doubt.

In your experience, do the practice exams (and CyberLives) mimic the real exam? Do you have any last minute tips/advice? TIA

Meguiars Polish Residue Leftover on Car

Hi all,

I polished my tesla model 3 a few weeks ago (meguiars polish) as i wanted to give it a light shine. I used a DA rotary and was very careful not to damage the clear coat.

There seems to be leftover polish residue in some spots and I can’t seem to remove it. I gave it a nice contact wash today, scrubbed hard, and even went over it a few times with the drying towel and it hasn’t made a difference?

What can I do?

Does Tesla Accept Physical Checks?

Hi all,

My credit union only mails physical checks, and I was wondering if Tesla accepts physical checks. I'm ordering thru their pre-owned program.

I have done some research and found conflicting answers.

Thank you!

My First Tesla (M3LR)

Hi all,

I’m the proud new owner of a 2024 M3LR AWD in Stealth Gray. It took running some numbers for a few days but I decided it was well worth it.

I’ve always liked teslas but never considered owning one, I took a test drive last week and fell in love with the Highland.

I’ll receive it in about 2 weeks. Excited to be part of the club!

Hi all,

Taking SEC401 currently and was wondering, do you guys both read the books and watch the OnDemand videos? Do you read while listening to OnDemand in the background? Books and only quizzes?

I’m currently watching the OnDemand videos, then skimming the book and highlighting/indexing.
