Praying for the best, because that’s all i can do for this guy

Bought this HP Laptop off of a nice old man in a thrift store parking lot for 20 bucks (alongside 2 other laptops that i mostly just stripped for the drives) He said he never tested it. I planned to throw linux (i’m a mint guy personally) on there but i couldn’t get anything out of it. Did what i could, but it wouldn’t turn on. So, im bringing in the big guns: Andre from my local PC repair store. He will let me know whether it’s just the charging port (small repair) or the motherboard (just take the ssd and ram and scrap the rest). See you guys tomorrow with an update

Installed Mint a month ago, can never go back

My favorite thing about Linux is that all my fuck-ups are my own. On windows, its always a broken update, a data leak, whatever. But on Linux, I can only blame myself. I'm in control. Sure, its scary to have the power to make your computer hate you, but I prefer it that way. I'd rather fuck up myself than deal with someone else fucking up for me.

Ryzen build won’t output to monitor

Currently upgrading a build. Swapped from an intel i3 to a ryzen 5500 and changed from one gigabyte motherboard to another. All parts are functional, but the gpu won’t output video. Ive tried just about everything other reddit threads have said. Any clue what it could be?
