Victron MPPT 100/50 ventilation necessary?

^(NOTE: I realized I need to put a breaker on both POS and NEG after this pic was taken. I will be adding another breaker for the NEG wire.)

I'm in the process of installing a solar setup for my travel trailer.

I've got 2x 200w panels in series at 48v. 5ft of 10AWG to the MPPT, and from the MPPT 4ft of 10AWG to the battery.

I have the MPPT ready to be mounted as shown, but I'm wondering if this is a BAD spot to put it, due to being an enclosed space. Will this cook my controller? Should I drill a vent hole with a 12v fan to circulate air?

Roof Mounting Solar Panels

Looking for ideas on mounting solar panels to the roof of my 17' HILO camper.

The roof is ribbed aluminum with a slight curve.

I'm really trying to avoid drilling at all. My favorite solution is using U-Channel and 3M VHB, but I'm not confident the VHB will adhere well with that slight ribbing/curve.

I haven't bought the solar panels or any mounting hardware yet. Flexible panels with tape is still an option, but I've read they're not great compared to rigid.

I'm also considering just going with portable panels since I'm in the PNW and tree cover is everywhere.

I'm not an electrician. Trailer Solar Wiring. Anything stupid in here?

I asked AI and it told me my wiring diagram was "Surprisingly good".

Based on every news article about people listening to AI on important stuff like this, I'm pretty sure that translates to: "You will die in a trailer fire of your own making."

I'm basically rewiring from scratch.

  • Adding a new Distribution panel & converter to go with the lithium upgrade from AGM.
  • The Pneumatic lift & Electric jack already have their own breakers in the box, I probably should have drawn them in too, but they're there.
  • I'm fairly uncertain how to calc the DP->Battery wire. The spec on the DP/Converter says "45 Amps" so I guess size it to that?

The trailer itself is a 17' HILO. If you're asking "Why is there a pneumatic lift in this??" it's because the trailer roof raises and lowers for travel.

First RV, I feel like I found a unicorn.

Never owned an RV or anything towable before.

I've been watching Camper listings for a few months, but when this *popped up* it was love at first sight. Drove 150 miles to go pick it up and no regrets so far. Tows like a dream behind my Avalanche.

It is immaculate inside. A few minor cosmetic blemishes. A few upgrades like LED lighting and some setup for LiFePO4 batts.

To get it "level" I had to flip my slight drop hitch upside down. It still noses down a little, so I think I need to get a rise hitch.

Going on the shake-down camp this weekend!

Would love to hear if anyone else has or is using one of these HiLo's.
