A one layer card

A one layer card

This is made with stickers from a Michaels/Recollections sticker pad that is bird themed. The large sticker had a different sentiment that I cut away to put in the little banners. The feathers and some of the other stickers have some foiling.

Working on my next birthday card

For a July birthday. The flame and sentiment are stamps from Stampin Up, but the cake and candles are patterned papers from my stash. The butterfly is a dimension sticker from Dollar Tree. Since the patterns are so busy I am thinking of a plainish card base. Or maybe I will make a 3D/sandwich board type of card base so it stands up like a real cake.

Should've added a mat

These ended up a little blocky, I should have put the elements on a mat before putting them on the card base. Any ideas to help make the cards a little more finished looking?

Seed library news--TULIPS are in!

If you were able to get some tulip bulbs last year from the library's seed library, I hope they are beginning to sprout now.

We have a new batch of bulbs available, one bag oer person while supplies last.

New seeds for the seed library

Thanks to the patron who dropped off seeds from a swap at their church! This month we are highlighting Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) heritage month. We have several types of greens and a couple radishes and a pepper and one or two herbs commonly used in Asian cuisine. Also, take a look at the handout about the two AANHPI farms we have in the Chicagoland area.

Here's another set of quilled letters. These are about half as tall as the previous ones I made. I made a little tab on each letter as these are meant to be pinned on a bulletin board for the library's Friends group. I used the same colors of quilling strips since I had a bunch left over from the previous projects.

At my library is a signboard in the foyer which I decorate every month. This month I used the mini alphabet punchboard to make the names of various AANHPI foods in celebration of those heritages. I also repurposed a little banner I made last year. When I was planning the words I didn't think it would end up as bright and colorful as it looks in the finished compilation.

Hi all, I love film fests because they are where I can see things that unfortunately will not be screened or available anywhere afterwards. The main film fest in my city has gotten really expensive and frankly does not offer a lot of virtual options. So I am trying to find fests that have a decent amount of virtual streaming (in the U.S.) that is not too geo-restricted and available to me in Chicago. I emailed the Atlanta fest which is going on now but have not heard back yet. I might try contacting Eventive to see if they would offer this information to me. Does anyone have a recommendation to other fests that have a decent amount of virtual screenings?

I think Mondays used to be the general day most restaurants closed for their day off because traditionally it was the day of least sales (maybe I'm wrong about this, just what I recall growing up). Nowadays I notice more and more it's Tuesdays. Has anyone else observed this?
