My whole carpet got wet. spent an hour using a water vaccum on the floor. on the bright side, the shrimp I was acclimating are doing great. the water was cold so I put the heater back in after confirming which electrical outlets were dry. After getting as much water as I could out of the carpet, I plugged the sponge filter back in. The fish seem to be doing good. The shrimp are chilling. I refilled about 3 1/2 gallons (tank is a 20 gallon long) but the small RO system in my house refills really slowly.

i guess it’s water change day.

what I want to know is if it says “and your missing: reel in papers!” or “and: reel in your missing papers!”

notes:

- end of the tail is blue

- a bit speckeled on the back?

- brobably as big as a human calf/lower leg

- freshwater river in Zürich, Switzerland

bug info:

- red/brown color

- smaller than pinky nail, bigger than a mama springtail

- 6 legs

- abdomen about twice as big as head

- found crawling slowly on glass last night, slowness possibly due to high humidity.

- have only ever seen it last night

terrarium info:

- high humidity

- moss was harvested from the wild in june

- terrarium was made in june

- my terrarium soil mix is stored outdoors

- large springtail population

- moss is from the west coast of the USA

- terrarium is closed and stored indoors

it was both re-opening and healing.

please note that since it didn't allow me to crosspost, i just copied my caption and posted here.

this was really healing but also kind of reopened the wound. i love this terrarium and i hope that i'll have it forever.

contains: a few types of moss (haven't identified them), gravel (from a store), dirt, rocks, and a piece of redwood bark (i know that it will decay, but all things do eventually)

context: alriiiight so i'm a young aquarist and recently i got unofficially hired by a family friend to help design a 130,000 gallon outdoor pond renovation on a ranch. (yes, that huge, i literally could not comprehend it when i first heard but that might be because i have trouble connecting numbers to size) i've only been into aquariums since october but i've spent hours studying it just because i like it so i have lots of knowledge but far less experience than most aquarists. i have made three fish tanks, one bin pond and many ecospheres/terrariums.

problem: anyways i've gotta order the stuff to cycle it and i'm wondering whether liquid ammonia or liquid ammonuim is better. i was trying to find a trustworthy aquarium brand that sold liquid ammonia but i calculated the amounts and it would take 433 bottles of Fritz Fishless Fuel to start the cycle for the pond. when i tried to find some specifically for ponds, i could only find ammonia neutralizer. i've decided that i should probably just use regular store bought unscented stuff.

question: should i use liquid ammonia or liquid ammonium chloride to start cycling the pond?
