Ticket Pull Question

Howdy from a new graduate student. I've purchased the sports pass for football in the fall, and saw that the guest tickets that are associated with the sports pass are limited. I've see that grad students and seniors pull first.

I'd like for a friend to come visit and use my guest pass for our game against Texas. Is it reasonable to assume that when I pull, that I'll be able to get a guest pass for them? Or is there highly limited availability for this game?

Thanks in advance.

Best Credit Cards for Churning United Miles?

Hello,

I am looking to get into the world of credit card churning for United miles. I have just received the United Explorer card (80k miles!), but plan to discontinue the card before the annual fee hits and hopefully get another card. However it seems that the other United cards such as the Quest have worse value for churning due to the immediate fee. Any good recommendations such as the Sapphire Preferred? Does United ever have points transfer bonuses? Any general advice such as how often I should be trying to get new credit cards (while of course obeying 5/24)?

Thanks so much.

AMA: Particle Physics PhD Student at CERN

Hello, I'm based at a US university doing my PhD in Physics at CERN, in the field of high energy experimental particle physics.

I work on the CMS Experiment. On the software analysis side, we are conducting a resonant X-> HH -> bbWW search. In words this means we are trying to measure the production of two Higgs bosons from one parent beyond the standard model particle, where one Higgs decays to two bottom quarks and the other decays to two W bosons. On the hardware side, I work on the upgrading the Muon system on CMS for the High Luminosity upgrade for the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), specifically on the Muon Cathode Strip Chambers (CSCs) and Gas Electron Multipliers (GEMs). I've finished the standard graduate physics course load, with an emphasis in quantum field theory and the standard model.

Feel free to ask questions about physics, particle physics, CERN, lifestyle/work culture at CERN, living in Geneva, my experiences, or anything else you can come up with!

Picture I took of CMS for my "proof"

I'm not from Texas and some of my family wants to come out and see a game at Kyle field. What is the cheapest way to get tickets, and when?

Hello, I will be working on the Prevessin for two months this summer. I likely need to find some short term housing such as the Saint-Genis hostel. Any recommendations for what area I should look for housing to easily get to the Prevessin site? Thank you.
