Looking at a PAO in 3 months

Hi everyone, new here, but I have just had my appointment Friday which confirmed that I have hip dysplasia - my socket is “in the wrong place” not by much but the ortho says its too much bone at the front and not enough at the back?

I have had hip pain with my hips locking out or getting stuck for over a decade, I’m mid twenties now. But the last three or four years it’s felt like my hips are grinding and aggravated. I can’t stand still long, museums are a place of joy for me and I cannot get through an exhibit without that pain flaring up. Queuing for a table? No, I have to go find a bench and hope whoever I’m with is cool with holding a space in line for me.

Now, I have been doing strength training for my hips for 2 ish years now. Not any improvement.

The ortho was pretty good compared to previous orthos (fasciotomy and calf release surgeries already) but he did keep trying to put me off the op.

I’m now worried, and reading this subreddit has been mixed. What encouraging words do you all have? Rewind to 3/4 months pre op and what do you wish you did differently? Was it worth it? How far into post op before you felt that way?

More specifically I don’t know how to manage this with work. I work from home, I have a desk that can go up and down and a sofa bed. Do you think 4 weeks off is enough? I know it’s individual experiences but just looking for some ideas.

What do I absolutely need to get before I get under the saw? I’m looking at over bed table but my bed has no gap for wheels. And also looking at things for around the house like grab bars but I rent and have a small house so a frame may not help much. Stairs?? Also.

What were your preferred positions for rest? I sleep sideways but looks like l will need to be a back sleeper?

RP6 - amazing, PC streaming?? Crazy fun

I am just laughing maniacally to myself at playing Icarus on my RP6.

Okay, some of the buttons aren’t bound right but Icarus is not really a controller game. So this is just some fun

I followed the guide from Retro Game Corps and I’m having a blast chopping trees and clearing the ground on my solo outpost.

The RP6 is small, and I have been contemplating the Thor and/or (more likely or) Odin 3 as I really want to have more PC emulation. But even with my Intel Nuc with a not too hot GPU is managing this well enough! Might save my coins and buy more games instead… or maybe just the Thor for DS reasons and a bunch of games I haven’t played since I moved and sold the PS4.

Horizon Zero After Dawn on the RP6?? Ultimate setup.

For those of you eyeing up the more powerful handhelds for PC emulation have a think about PC streaming a second or two before shelling out more coins as this may also work for you.

I am stuck deciding, in the meantime the UFS 3.1 and price hikes have kicked in.

Here’s where I’m at - I have been diving into emulator hardware, I have been loving my little Anbernic RG34XX SP and that led to a couple more purchases.

I have been loving the Retroid Pocket 6, but bought the 8GB model only to find that I’m really getting into PC and Switch emulation a lot more than I thought!

I am now looking at the Odin 3 and the Thor Max. Now, if I got the Odin 3 it would mean I should probably sell the RP6 as it’s essentially the same but an upgrade. Thats if I like the slightly different form and feel.

Or I get the Thor Max. Now, I love the look, I want to be able to relive the glory days of playing DS games and get through more of the games that I couldn’t get growing up! But I know I am going to want to try some meatier PC and Switch on this thing. From what I’ve read and watched in reviews, I’m under the impression it’s probably going to get pretty hot and it may not deliver anything better than the RP6 even with the added RAM because of the chip itself.

But the Thor community seems to absolutely love their Thors and I am really liking what I see. I also don’t want to collect many more devices as I’m already getting looks for the 3 that sit on the shelf now that I’m loving the RP6. And trying to explain they are for different styles is not going to cut it. I don’t want to just keep buying more dodads but I also just need a decision as it keeps getting more expensive the longer I flipflop!

Any of you doing lots of high end Switch and PC emulation? Has the Thor been cooking? Does it manage more than a 8GB RP6?
