Monstera Albo White Variegation

Meet Morty, my Monstera Albo (propagated by my cousin 🌱)

I got him on March 2026 & noticed that he got very little variegation. What I know is variegation depends on the stem’s genetics, however I was wondering about the existing leaves.

- Is there any chance that the current green-dominant leaves produce more white patches as they mature?

- Will there be any chance that future new leaves will produce more white variegation?

This is my first experience on Monstera Albo, so any insights will be appreciated! 😊

Calathea makoyana leaves movement?

Last night was super foggy (humid + chilly) here in Melbourne and I noticed my Calathea makoyana’s leaves had closed up (as seen on photo).

I left her alone overnight, and this morning she had opened them again. She’s only been in my apartment for 2 days.

Is this just how Calathea makoyanas express themselves, or is it simply their normal day & night movement?

Also, any general care tips for Calathea makoyana? I’m trying to help her survive Melbourne’s unpredictable weather 😅

Need help growing Pothos cuttings

I have been taking Pothos cuttings from office & growing them in the water for about 3 months. Their roots are thriving & getting bigger, so I later moved them into soil (2 weeks ago now).

This is one of the longest / most established out of all I have so far.

How do I encourage them to grow more leaves & get bushier? I’ve only fertilized them once so far (2 weeks ago, using Osmocote pour + feed liquid fertilizer); is it enough to do it once every 2 weeks or should i do it more regularly?

Any tips would be appreciated as I am very eager to grow Pothos jungle in my apartment 😆

Baby Monstera Albo

My cousin has the parent plant of this Monstera Albo and kindly propagated a cutting for me. I’ve been taking care of this baby for almost 3 months now; we named him Morty 🌱
Judging from the roots I discovered that Morty is indeed still very young (light colored roots & thin).

As a fairly new plant parent, I’d love to get some Monstera care tips. What can I do to help Morty grow bigger and thrive? (We live in Melbourne apartment & Morty sits in a plenty of lights facing West)

A few questions:
- How often do you repot a Monstera?
- How often do you fertilize, and what fertilizer do you use for Monstera?
- Any tips for encouraging larger leaves and stronger growth?

Our latest upgrade for Morty was adding a moss pole so he has something to climb and attach his aerial roots to. Hopefully that’s the right step to jump in!
Any advice, especially from fellow Monstera Albo owners, would be greatly appreciated! 😊

Homalomena care tips

My spouse and I have recently gotten into houseplants, and about 2 weeks ago we brought home a Homalomena Maggie from Bunnings (we named him Homm) 🌱

Since the day we got him, he’s been dropping leaves. I repotted him almost immediately after bringing him home, and for the first few days, we thought that we probably wasn’t watering him enough. After going through some read about Homalomena, I found people saying theirs love water, so I’ve been watering Homm daily and added a layer of sphagnum moss on top to retain moisture.

This is how Homm looks after about 2 weeks now. Are we doing good? Also, based on the photos, does Homm look healthy overall, or are there any signs that I’m missing?
Any care tips would be greatly appreciated since I’m still very new to plant parenting! 😊

New plant parents here 🌱

We started with just one plant (it was a Monstera Albo gift from my cousin) and somehow ended up with a growing collection! 🌱 We’re still learning every day, but we’re loving the journey so far!

Any plant recommendations for indoor apartment living? We’re based in Melbourne, so the air can get pretty dry, but our place gets plenty of bright sunlight throughout the day (west facing openings). Looking for beginner-friendly plants that would thrive in those conditions ❤️
