African Feminist literature recommendations?
I've read everything by Chimamanda Adichie and I need more.
Review of P20 hyperpigmentation defense on dark skin.
Skin type: mature dry skin
I much prefer sunscreens with high UVA protection but sometimes it's hard to tell in the U.S. since many manufacturers don't publish this information.
I'm Fitzpatrick VI and looked so hard for a review of this sunscreen on very dark skintones but couldn't find, so I'm hoping this helps someone else.
Pros: this sunscreen is a powerhouse. Very high, very strong protection overall, both for UVA and UVB with incredible staying power. Does not burn my eyes.
Cons: it does leave an obvious white cast on my skintone.
I also got the kids version and the white cast was even worse on that one, it was comparable to a mineral sunscreen.
I am a little disappointed that I can't use this as my daily sunscreen. I'll use this on days when I makeup so at least i can cover up the white cast.
Re-applying sunscreen over make-up?
I've tried all the possible solutions: using a stick (rubs off my foundation), using a spray (but it's useless if you dont rub it in), use a lotion with makeup sponge (takes off my blush).
I've been on the hunt for the perfect solution to this problem and I think i finally got it:
Use an ultra long-lasting sunscreen under your makeup like Riemann P20 or LRP UV mune 400 so you don't have to re-apply. Can also consider layering a mineral sunscreen over one of the above.
Thank you, I'll be waiting for my Nobel prize in the back.
New Haru Haru sunscreen
OK I know the Black Rice airyfit sunscreen is a fan favorite, it's also my #2 favorite sunscreen ( shout out to LRP UV mune400 sitting comfortably at #1).
But the new Black Bamboo veil just knocked the Black Rice sunscreen out of my #2 spot.
The biggest issue i had with the Airyfit is that the dry-down is too matte for my extremely dry skin. I could only comfortably wear it if I use a thick moisturizer and squalene oil underneath. But I could never do a re-application with it, the matte-ness was too uncomfortable to bear. I loved everything else about it.
Enter the new Black Bamboo Veil sunscreen, this was made for us dry skin folks. Its a dewy/satin finish.
The Veil is slightly lighter, thinner than the Airyfit but not runny. And still has all the other same attributes of the Airyfit. I also like that we get 100ml (instead of the usual 50ml) but the bottle is still small enough to carry around with you.
if the Airyfit works well for you and checks all your boxes, then you can skip the Veil.
I do highly recommend the Veil if the Airyfit is too matte for you or if you like a more dewy finish.
Oiliest product recommendations?
Yes you read that right, I'm looking for the most oiliest products you've ever tried.
Sunscreens, moisturizers, toners, serums. I want to look like I washed my face in straight oil and walked out of the house. Bonus points if it's both oily AND hydrating.
Signed,
A very dry skin girl who loves that oily look.
