Mayor needs to learn how to do these things properly

But sure, awkwardly try to stand in the middle of the shot, that will work.

[RANT] Free subscriptions on OV chipkaart should be automatic

I know it's probably going to be a limitation of the MiFARE system it's based on, but why the fuck aren't the kids subscriptions (or the OV fiets subscription) just automatically included? The idea that you have to sign up on a website, wait 15 minutes, then go to a ticket machine is rediculous, to claim a "free" thing that it should have had to begin with.

Oh and the OV chipkaart site not even having the subscriptions is even worse! I know all the services are run by different companies but at least show me what subscriptions I have or what I'm eligible for!

For example kids can travel free on NS https://www.ns.nl/abonnementen/kids-vrij.html you can even apply for a free ov chipkaart here (and only here, if you do what most people do and apply on the ov chipkaart site a kid's card costs money.) with the subscription already on it, but you still have to go to a machine to claim it. If you want the subscription on an existing card, you need an NS account (ov chipkaart accounts are irrelevant and can't even link in a meaningful way.)

And this is completely unrelated to the GVB free travel (not even really acknowledged by GVB as an initiative of the Amsterdam city council) https://www.amsterdam.nl/verkeer-vervoer/kinderen-gratis-openbaar-vervoer/ no of all things you need, not an ov chipkaart account, not a GVB account but... A kids DigiD, why? Because the Amsterdam government wants to make sure no one is exploiting it. And this is after using a photo and giving the child's date of birth when signing up for the OV chipkaart. And again, this needs to be claimed from a ticket machine.

Luckily they have learnt their lesson with the OVpas. Jokes, subscriptions are even supported yet and automatic reload was only added last week.

Great job to all involved.

Jan rejects a law because people might break it

"She warns that without greater harmonisation, a generational smoking ban in the Netherlands could lead to increased cross-border purchases of nicotine products in Germany and Belgium."

Also would result in another reason to do shopping across the boarder

I was going to spend this paycheck on food, but I may as well join the grift before it pops

We're just weeks away from RFK Jr recommending Taurine or Whippets or whatever "natural" thing he saw promoted on his feed
