Getting diagnosed; competing opinions

I’ve had very painful and bloody periods since I was 11. I thought it was all normal until, as an adult, I experienced a period so painful that I begged my husband to take me to the hospital because I was ready to end my life. It was a pain unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. We were on vacation and the hospital system there wasn’t great so I was given pain killers and sent back.

Skip ahead a few months and I’m talking to a new gynecologist. I tell her what happens and they schedule an internal ultrasound. The notes from the tech say “potential of adenomyosis.” I take it to my gyno and she says “oh that’s probably just an egg, not a cyst, because you were getting ready for your period. The lining thickens around then.” This doesn’t feel right so I take the results to a second gynecologist. She tells me it could be adenomyosis but it’s very hard to say. She says she can’t schedule me for an MRI because I’ve not tried other steps first, like birth control.

I’ve been on birth control before. It did help lessen the pain, but I had other unpleasant side effects on the several types I tried.

Years go by and I experience the bloodiest period of my life. I feel no pain but I end up losing so much blood that as soon as I tell my gyno about it over the phone, she sends me to the hospital to get a transfusion. I can barely stand during this whole ordeal. We do another ultrasound (internal and external) and results say all is normal. Same lab as last time.

I’m exploring getting a third opinion but good specialists (and gynecologists in general) are hard to come by in my area.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

July Empties!

My very first post here 🥹

🤩🤩🤩I love these and would say it with my chest

Farm Stay face masks (lychee, oatmeal): my favorite go-to face mask after an everything shower or in preparation for tretinoin.

Crest Whitening Strips: my favorites! I use these 1-2 times per month depending on staining. I have sensitive teeth and find these don’t bother me if I follow the instructions. My dentist recommended these to me since the dental whitenings they do are pretty intense and I didn’t have enough staining to really warrant their whitening service.

Vaseline Lip Therapy: I have very sensitive skin and lips all around, and this is one of the only moisturizing products I will use on my lips. The more “natural” products caused me a lot of grief. This was recommended by my derm years ago, and I keep one in my bag, nightstand, car, etc.

Skin Food, Shea Butter hand cream in peach: I love the way this made my hands feel! Really moisturizing without being greasy, and sinks into the skin pretty fast. The smell is really nice and I look forward to trying their other scents once I make my way through all the other hand creams I own.

Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF: I live and die by this sunscreen. As someone allergic to chemical sunscreens from the US, I would be generally constrained to mineral sunscreens with a white cast. This sunscreen comes in to save the day! Dries down beautifully, minimal scent, great as a makeup primer.

Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Emulsion: I’ve never liked a lightweight moisturizer more than this. It’s gentle, dries down well, and feels so luxurious on the skin. Once I’m out of my other moisturizers, this is the only one I plan to restock with for the warmer months.

Nuun hydration tabs: It’s the convenience of electrolytes in a tiny tab and without all the crazy high sodium of other products like LMNT. Nuun and Liquid IV are my favorite for hard workouts on hot days.

Dove Peach and Rice Milk hand wash: Unilever is not my favorite, but this is the only hand wash I have found that is moisturizing enough for my hands during the very dry months. Without it, the back of my hands crack and bleed.

🙂🙂🙂 these are good but I’m not loyal

Fresh Strawberry face mask: nothing to write home about.

Kiku-Masamune, Beauty Sake Bath: this was a nice, strong scented bath essence that left my skin moisturized after an extremely hot bath, but the coloring was intense and it ended up staining my stone counters when I tore the packet of liquid open.

PelicanSoap, Kaki Shibu Refreshing Citrus Soap: cute, small soap I use in the shower and sometimes to shave. It’s not exceptionally moisturizing, but the smell (more herby than citrus). Lathers well.

Ardell lashes, the “eco” ones from Dollar Tree: for $1.25, these were great! Nothing exceptional. I was able to reuse them only twice because I’m terrible at glue application.

Pretty Woman nails: I did have to buy 2 of these kits in order to have enough matching nails to do all my fingers. The sizing is odd in my opinion, but these felt a touch nicer than the cheapy non-branded press-ons from Amazon. Did not have them on my nails long enough to speak to how long the design (leopard and French tip style) lasted on the nails before fading.

Spa Luxury Brazilian Orchid body butter: Feels and smells amazing, dries down nicely. I like this more than the other scents.

haruharu wonder - Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner: I love that this is fragrance free. Felt nice on the skin, layered well, and helped keep my skin glass-like throughout the day.

Casaluna Clarity reed diffuser refill: smells like a spa. I have it in several rooms.

Sports Research Magnesium L-Threonate: I rotate between magnesium threonate and glycinate, depending on my current focus. I found this brand to be the most reputable option without breaking the bank.

🚫🚫🚫 no thanks

Spa Luxury Brazilian Sol hand mask: this smelled nice, but it triggered my eczema on my hands, which has never happened to me with other hand masks. This also felt much “cheaper” than my usual go-to hand mask (Aveeno).

Bio Oil: I’m not convinced this does anything other than smell nice. No noticeable difference in my scar compared to the side treated with my normal moisturizer only.

Practices for “resetting” your day

ADHD/depression here.

Okay you know when you’ve spent day bed rotting and being chronically online? I’m there now, still in my pajamas (day off). I want to figure out how to “reset” after these moments.

Like during New Years, everyone makes these goals because it feels like a time to start fresh. I can do this yearly, annually, daily. But I struggle with the hourly aspect. If I’ve bed rotted this long, I feel like my whole day is shot. What are some ways you use to “reset” or transition back into daily life?

Ideas that come to mind:
- shower
- a snack
- a 5 minute meditation in youtube

Do you guys have other things that work? Looking for suggestions, especially low-effort ones because sometimes showers are a lot.

How to handle the big boys?

Here goes nothing, I guess. I’m with this guy. It’s massive. Even with tons of foreplay and being as wet as Ryan Gosling during the rain scene in the Notebook… it still kind of hurts and I’ve definitely bruised my cervix a few times. The problem is I really like the big “slap” of full contact you know? I can tell he feels bad and tries his best to not hurt me.

How do you handle big eggplants during penetration?

How to experience the catharsis of starting over?

I used to love moving. I moved once a year or more. It began out of necessity (woop woop, being poor) and became a sort of high after a while because it was an excuse to tear through all my things and “start fresh.”

I’m in a home I own now with my partner and several pets. We have a bigger space to account for our pets and the possibility of a growing family, but everything in my being itches to give it all away and move into a tiny studio again. A tiny studio forced us to have little, but I know it won’t support the life I want long-term.

What do you do when you’re in need of that high of starting over? I’ve already decluttered a lot of my spaces so far, and I bring very few items into the home so it’s not like I’m able to continue the minimizing.

Advice on all friends developing EDs / signs of body dimorphia

I’ll try to keep this short.

I have a history of disordered eating that I have mostly overcome with the help of professionals. I am proud of the work I have done internally and for the care I show my body too.

I am well aware the struggle it is to be a person in 2026 with all the accessible Ozempic and body shaming and food fear. I’ve coped fairly well so far because of therapy, my doctor, and good friends who know my past.

However, in the last few years, all of my “safe friends” (by this I mean people who were body neutral and didn’t demonize foods) have become very into dieting and/or misusing GLP1s. One friend told me that she’s avoiding potentially life-saving medication at the moment because a common side effect is weight gain.

My most “safe” friend, who was the last bastion in 2026, recently delved into an extreme diet and is now sharing a lot of misinformation. I was devastated and I tried talking to her about it, but she doesn’t believe that what she is doing is disordered. She didn’t say it outright but I got the feeling she found me as too sensitive.

This experience has happened 8 times now. All 8 of my closest friends have gone from once being body-positive or neutral to shaming their bodies, extreme diets / EDs, medical misuse. These are not people that were pre-diabetic… these are women who are objectively not “larger bodied” either.

I feel that I am teetering on the edge again. I speak to specialists but there is something so alienating about not having a SINGLE person in my personal life that doesn’t speak ill of their body and takes intense (or extreme) measures to be smaller. I have set boundaries. I have told them I don’t want to talk about food or anything of the sort, but I can still overhear it when they talk to other people, or sometimes they forget (and often apologize), or don’t realize they’re saying something very triggering). When we go out to eat, their orders remind me of my past. I don’t know that I can eat around them if I’m not in a good headspace.

In these moments, I take a deep breath and ground myself in what I know. It’s becoming more difficult and some days I am stronger than others.

Advice? Please be kind. I am terribly sad and feel strangely alone.

Edit: every single one of my family members included. They’re all either on Ozempic, anorexic, or bulimic. I wish I was making this up. My dog is the only other soul near me that unashamedly eats her meal and finds joy in her body, seemingly. She is all I’ve got right now.
