Newly Diagnosed - Maple the tortie

Hello everyone,

My love lump, Maple (F/8.5) was just diagnosed with diabetes. It came on quite suddenly, over about 6 weeks. Food changes are in progress, and she's starting insulin today. She was offered Bexacat, but the things I read online scared me away from it.

Just here for community support!

Free A/C Unit, 32nd off Broadway

Hi neighbors,

I put out a free A/C unit, it's a small Frigidaire 5,000 BTU window model. Works but never used, though I advise no one with cat allergies takes it bc it's been on my floor accumulating fur.

32nd between Broadway and 31st Avenue.

You'll need a car or cart + muscle.

I'll update when it's gone.

UPDATE: Gone, thanks all! Stay cool!

Personality differences with color variations?

Hello fellow newf owners:

For those who have owned different color newfs, have you noticed any personality differences? Ours is black. I'm curious about the remaining (brown, "silver," landseer). Of course every dog shares a combo of breed traits and independent factors, but would be interested to hear about it from this angle.

Ballroom Dance Social/Practice Club?

Hi neighbors,

I've been taking ballroom dance classes in Manhattan since last November, and finally stopped because both the cost and classism is very discouraging. I know there are options for salsa and swing classes/socials in Astoria (and I want to start going to those!), but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a casual/social dance club here where we can partner up to practice other ballroom dance styles (waltz, rumba, foxtrot, tango, etc.), in addition to swing and salsa.

I don't want to get into any arguments about why these styles of dance are gate-kept, just looking for like-minded people who love dancing.

Stay cool this week,

broke dancer

Astoria Book Club "Directory" or List?

Hi neighbors,

Is there, or can someone create, a list or directory of book clubs in Astoria? Asking for this because I'd like to either join or start one without overlapping topics.

Thank you,

Bookish neighbor

Hello Cisco readers,

While I respect that this is a literary subreddit, I wanted to share a funny photo. This image was taken on the streets of Providence several Necronomicons ago when we were waiting at a corner with some Big Nazo folks to cross the street. I love that for a moment, his life was as weird as his fiction.
