Bangalore Hindi Poetry and Shayari Club

Hi good people of Bangalore,

As someone with a keen interest in Hindi poetry, Sher-o-shayari, Ghazals and Hindi literature, I have really struggled to find my tribe here in Bangalore.
While I know there are a few places/clubs that do related events, they are either too commercialised, or too far (from Bangalore's standards).
So, I want to build my own community. I am looking for genuine people who have similar interests as mentioned above and are okay with doing community meetups.
As of now, I do not have a struture of event(s) to be conducted but that is something we can all collectively agree on depending on the size of the group. Of the top of my head, I am looking to:

  1. Organise open mics
  2. Ghazal nights
  3. Jamming sessions
  4. Story telling sessions

To begin with, we can start this from a cafe or any public place. I have also got a peaceful apartment with an almost empty drawing room waiting to be a host to spectacular personalities right in the heart of Bellandur.

Let me know if this is something that resonates with you in the comments or DM and we can get in touch accordingly.

PS: This is not a commercial/paid event. There is absolutely no money making out of this.
It is only for my love of the art and language.

Thank you for your time you took to read. Open to suggestions/comments.

Hindi Poetry and literature enthusiasts!

Hi there, beautiful people of Bangalore. Hope the Sunday is going good for all of you.

In the last few days, I happen to interact with a few folks here who seemed to have genuine interest in Hindi Literature. I understand that the recent popularity of 'Musaafir Cafe' has brought hindi novels in trend but the real readers/writers always knew that there have been a lot of dramatizations of so many other such stories in the past.

Anyway, coming to the point - I suppose there is a good number of people who share this similar interest and I suppose it is only fair that these people get to interact with each other. So, here is what I am doing:

  1. This is a google form that has 5 very simple questions (no personal details as of now). You can fill this out ONLY IF YOU ARE GENUINELY INTERESTED in hindi literature, Shayari, Ghazals. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeYnJIfnITnfj4biwEqSra7Bxzu_ZXsNwhw-bBi8Sb8c0uU2A/viewform?usp=publish-editor
  2. There is no paid membership. This is just me, one person trying to find like minded people.
  3. I have not really thought of a plan of action yet but depending on the responses, we can collectively discuss the kind of activities we want to engage ourselves in.
  4. This, in no way, is a mating opportunity. So, Men/Women who will show themselves only because they want to DATE someone, they can ignore this. I intend to build a community with purpose. Although, no one will stand in your way if you naturally find something.

Hello people!

I am gonna keep it short. My girlfriend left for her higher studies today and we are officially in long distance for a long time now.

Just dropped her at the airport. I don't know how I feel exactly but it's definitely not good.

I am sitting here in Blue Tokai wondering what do I do? I don't have any friends here in the city.

Apple after being put in warm water for 2 minutes

The apple developed this line and the side immersed in water faded and all the mixed colours were gone.

Food experts, any opinion?

Weird guy in blue tokai

So, I visit the blue tokai in sector 2 pretty regularly during the evening and there's this one guy who shows up almost every time I am there. He orders his drink and then walks up to any table where there's a girl sitting by herself and minding her business and asks if he can join her? The other tables are non occupied, mind you.

Is this the reality of urban marriages??

Hi,

(Posting here for the first time. Not sure if it is the right sub.)

I caught up with a long lost ex-colleague of mine who recently shifted from Gurgaon to Bangalore as she got married in the mid of last year and the guy is settled here.

It was like a typical catch up of 2 people who started their careers together. Initially we talked about our 'good old days' and other normal stuff. Then how her transition from Gurgaon to Bangalore has been. Later on, she started discussing how life for her has changed after marriage. She was appreciative of the person. Mentioned all the good things, story of how they met and the journey from dating to proposal to courtship and marriage and the life thereafter. I had left Gurgaon in 2020 so, I did not have all the information.

Now, in between all this, she got a bit melancholic and it felt like she choked up on words. I tried to get her to talk but she was resistant. With some persuasion she started talking about how invisible she has been for the last few months. Now, I could not really decipher what exactly she meant by this so, I thought she is having issues at her current workplace but boy was I wrong (At this point, I should mention that I am not married.)

She goes on to say that despite being married to a gem of a person, she feels like her life runs on a 24x60x60 clock where every second of the day has a definitive image which replays itself every day. I always knew that the imagery game of this person was pretty strong (both of us are avid readers that being one of the main reasons for becoming good work friends) but at this point, I really wanted her to be clear as assuming anything was not right. She said multiple things about how there is lack of appreciation of everyday efforts, being taken for granted, expectation of compromises from one end and what not. Time and again she kept re-emphasising that she loves her husband a lot but then all this is just becoming too difficult for her to handle.

At that moment, I could only tell her that maybe she should discuss with her husband and not let all this choke her but, now when I am reflecting back on the conversation, I am not sure if I gave the best advice. We were not best of friends back in the days but I suppose our workplace relation was very healthy and we supported each other's growth. Perhaps, that is why she wanted to talk to me about it.

So, here is the million dollar question - Is this true for everyone or like most of the urban working couples? Is this how marriages are now? Do women not have people they can talk to or, are they not sure if their partners actually understand them?

PS: My apologies for the long read.

New scam by auto drivers - fellow riders/drivers be alert

So, I came to realise that a very discreet scam is being run by the auto drivers in Bangalore.

You will notice a lot of auto rickshaws on the road do not have their brake lights working, mind you, it's not broken. The light looks fine and everything but it's not working because IT HAS BEEN INTENTIONALLY DISABLED.

These drivers keep braking in the middle of the roads for you to rear end them and then boom, the extortion begins. You can keep arguing thereafter but we all know that it's a lost cause.

So, next time, when you're riding behind an auto, be careful and treat it like the Ex you never had and stay the fuck away ;)

So much dust because of construction

This is happening right opposite the ETV back gate, Kadubeesanahalli. There's heavy construction ongoing and dust is spewing everywhere but the contractor has not taken any steps to cover the premises. There's so much dust that people are unable to walk through that stretch.

My question is - How are the builders in this country allowed to flout rules so shamelessly that too, in a city like Bangalore??

Can we please ensure that this reaches the right authorities and there are some consequences.
