People walking on eggshells around me

Hi

Since I can remember, my family members (mom and brother) have told me it's so hard to talk to me since they feel like they are walking on eggshells around me.

I can understand why. When I was a teenager I would snap off easily and that continued towards my early adulthood. I would have intense mood swings and so much rage about life and that would reflect on how I would carry an argument to extensive lengths and react very poorly to criticism.

I was born a girl and I hated it too which impacted so much on that same behavior.

The same happened with my first serious relationship from age 16 to 19 where he would constantly tell me I was very difficult to deal with, and that it was very hard to not get me sad or mad.

Now I'm 25yo and I've transitioned to an adult man. I work, have a loving partner (also male), have two lovely cats and go to therapy very frequently. I take meds for my mental health and overall I try to be better everyday

I have a much better relationship with my family now, my mom and I love each other's company, and never fight. Same with my brother now. We are all a much better family with better dynamic

I thought I was doing so well, I was genuinely proud of how far I've come with my journey. I rarely get mad at things, I have much better control of my emotions and I'm aware of how I feel so much easier now.

However something happened that made me feel like I'm the same as always. My partner and I were talking about his passion, he has been practicing a contact sport for about a year now and is sometimes very anxious about it. At a point I told him his teacher is "just his teacher, and it will be alright" when he said she replied kinda sassy to a question he had, because she is very stressed with the competition, and I also said "it's not like this sport is your job you can take it less seriously and it will be ok" when he was anxious about missing some classes.

He felt I was dismissive and today we were talking about that. I apologized and felt bad for hurting him, and said he can be upfront about it when he feels I'm being dismissive (I recognize I can appear dismissive sometimes instead of supportive).

And then he said it. He said he feels like he is walking on eggshells around me all the time, then when he saw I was hurt by this he said that it's not so extreme, that he is just "alert" around me cause he doesn't want to say or do anything that makes me mad or sad. I started crying uncontrollably and said I'm so sorry. He said he was sorry too. I was embarrassed of how much ugly crying was going on with me so I went to my room and here I am now.

We've been living together for a year and together for 4. I feel so sad and honestly like there's no escape from this. How can I actually be a safe person for the people around me?

How can I allow other people to express themselves and stop being such a "scary" people to talk to?

Edit: sorry the redaction is not the best. My English is not so great

WIBTAH if I joined the same hobby as my boyfriend when he told me he was uncomfortable with it?

Me(24M) and my partner (25M) have been together for 5 years and living together for one and a half.

About 8 months ago he started practicing kickboxing in a nearby gym. We didn't know much about it but apparently the city were we live at has multiple of those and he was lucky to find the perfect place to exercise, which he wanted to start doing for months now (we've both struggle with being sedentary and having bad exercise and eating habits)

Because of that I've supported him 100% and went to the doctor together to learn to eat better and lose weight (mostly because of him, because he has some health related issues because of his weight).

I also found a sport I liked, I was wall climbing for a while in another gym and was liking it a lot so far.

Then I suffered from an injury on my shoulder and had to stop exercising at all until I got better with physical therapy and meds.

Right now I'm much better but I'm still not able to climb and the doctor suggested other ways to exercise and to gain strength on my shoulders before trying to boulder again.

My partner has been supporting me a lot too, taking me to the gym and learning about my limitations to ensure I get stronger without harming myself again.

However I've been going with him and watch him train and met his gym friends. He seems very happy and has even taught me some moves. I've liked kickboxing a lot, seems like a super fun hobby and the gym he goes at is full of queer people as well.

I've been wanting to join in the meantime, to have something to do until I can climb again, but he felt hesitant. He told me he feels like we do too much stuff together and I agreed. We both work from home in the same company, go on dates and eat together 3 meals a day. We never get tired of each other but we were afraid that if we also do a hobby together then that would be too much.

When I talked about going to another gym or do MMA or Muay Thai instead he was also not happy about it but couldn't say why. We said we would talk about it better once he thought better.

Then we talked about it again and he cried and told me he was afraid that if I went to the same gym as him then people would only know him as my boyfriend because I'm so outgoing and click with people way easier, but he struggles a lot to make friends and is just starting to be closer to the people he trains with.

He also said that he feels I have a lot of interesting things to share with him and others: I paint, sew, do crafts, etc and he only has that one hobby that I don't do (kickboxing) so he likes to feel unique. He feels the same way about other contact sports because of this, that he would have no info or unique things to show me or teach me because I would know it already.

Lastly he said that he feels like a terrible boyfriend and would like to not feel this way and just take me with him to train.

I feel conflicted because I want to respect his feelings and I do feel sympathy for him, but at the same time knowing how to throw a punch would help me to feel so much better, I've experienced some violence from a person who never got any legal consequences and that lives in our same city which sometimes makes me feel scared and I have PTSD from it, and I am so weak that knowing a bit of that would make me feel like I'm not in so much disadvantage.

So I would really like to do Muay Thai or MMA in another gym and he said I'm allowed to do whatever, but I don't want to be an asshole and ignore his feelings

Would I be the asshole if I did that?

Hola!

Tengo un dilema moral. Estoy yendo a nutricionista hace unos meses y me ha hecho súper bien. He bajado bastante de peso y me siento bakan.

Me canso rápido y no tengo mucha musculatura.
