Tri-Fold Cover Case for Go 6 (gen 2) is a Winner

Paid $15. No spon-con;) https://a.co/d/02L8JpKp

Fits the Go 6 Gen 2 perfectly. Great case, great cover, great price. I’m really tickled with the case it’s so and the back of the cover is soft and the three fold makes it so that it is very easy to hold in the hand both as landscape and portrait. The reviews on Amazon were kind of negative and I don’t really get it— I like it a lot

More specifically:

The case is a the tpu that is nice and clear, and they put corner protectors on their and the bevel bump for screen protection is there. Feels like they're using the high quality tpu that has some good bounce and density and likely won't yellow. If you've bought enough cases for phones over the years, you get it.

The cover has that tri-fold magnet that allows the go 6 to be used without a stand in horizontal or landscape. The cover is very light without feeling low quality, with the top feeling like the grippy touch material and the inside being that felt-y material. The case works for wake and sleep, which I love. The magnets also hold my stylus while reading, which is great. the magnets aren't strong enough to feel like I'd trust my stylus to stay on there in a bag, but. I do feel way more comfortable about the generaly safety of my go 6 (I was scared I was going to drop it in it's regular case).

The magnet on the back of the cover case means that you can't see my color selection for the go 6 gen 2, but it does mean that the cover doesn't flop around.

I paid $16 for the case, and I think that was a good price. The cover only came in black, which I like well enough as the opposite of my beige boox cover. At the time of purchase, equivelent cases without the trifold in more colors were $29. I couldn't justify it. I wanted a detachable cover, to keep the weight down, but saw this at a waaaay better price.

I added a small holder to the back of it and it in no way messes up the ability of the case to hold and fold. The magnet back there also help support the pen. I’m really happy with it, but I think I said that.

The TPU case by itself is about $9.99 at time of writing.

Go 6 Gen 2 Writing is Great!

My go 6 gen 2 arrived today.

I was excited to try it using my metal tipped usi 2.0 pen. the experience is very close to EMR. I think it's as good as the Palma 2 Pro. Slower than my tab 8, the form factor for writing is much better than the Palma 2 pro.

This is a perfect little pocket journal. I am so tickled. I had wanted the Go 7 that write this well! Little did I know the 6 inch reader would be soooooooo cozy. Battery is tiny-- but it's so delightfully small and light who cares. Charge it if your iphone ;)

I really wanted the custard- but I got the shell color because I did not want a white front and a yellow back. I feel pretty pleased with that choice right now. She looks great with a Palma-- and they are perfect for different jobs.

The BEST Affordable USI 2.0 and EMR

My favorite Titanium Nibs for EMR

Best cheap USI 2.0 Stylus with Standard Nib:

https://a.co/d/02vNqZVV

 lets get into it

I love my clickable erasable EMR pens and we just don’t have anything like that for USI 2.0— as far as I know. My ink sense plus pen broke after less than three months— I see pictures of other people with their inksense plus broken in exactly the same place, too, so I thought maybe this might be nice.

I went on a hunt for a) a usi 2.0 pen as good as the bigme b7's — which is: light, balanced, and has a tail eraser— and b) metal nibs for the USI 2.0.

I lucked out and found some by eip and realized they weren't for the EIP pen.Darn! They were for the Penoval 2.0 which I don't use, as I like both a button and a top/tail eraser. I kept the delivery of the nibs but cancelled the rip pen.

When the nibs arrived, I noticed they were the right length for one of my other pens with a plastic tip. By removing the plastic on the new metal nib, I was able to add it to this pen: https://a.co/d/05yeWYAN

I would say that it makes my USI as good as my EMR. I'm tempted to order the EIP but it is more expensive.

I wanted to make sure that the Palma screen was protected from scratches in my pocket since I don’t use the folio. So, I added the healing shield to my palma 2 pro, and purchased for the new go 6 in anticipation of the metal nivs. I wanted to make sure that the Palma screen was protected from scratches in my pocket since I don’t use the folio. Previously, I had used the healing shield on the Palma and didn’t like what it did to the carbon nib. Now it's awesome.

My fave AFFORDABLE clickable EMR pen, which has a tail eraser. I wanted something thicker since I have something thinner: https://a.co/d/0aKRilfV

My fave travel EMR stylus: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D582XNK9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

My favorite Titanium Nibs for EMR— these are delightful — they feel better than any other titanium nib Ive used.  https://a.co/d/0drZqDYr

FW 4.2 Arrives on Tab X 😍

Tab X 4.2 Released!

For all the discourse around whether or not 4.2 was a worthy upgrade, I am over the moon that my tab x has received the update. that’s all of my devices now, which is the best part for sync !

updated to add: this update makes everything snappier and the screen looks better. I don't really understand how this happened but the device feels and looks more modern. really really, kudos to the boox team. I'm honestly thrilled.

Ledger (Tools for Boox fork)

Ledger is my planner, my source of truth, and my safety net. It's THE record of my daily accounts. A multi-device central hub.

My name is Michael, and I'm yoga studio owner in Washington, DC. I'm the Federal Government's meditation and mindfulness contractor. Weird gig. As niche as e-ink. I think that most of the internet is brainrot that is leading to a generation of people with no original thoughts, creativity, or capacity for creation.

I write constantly, but I'm also neurdivergent. ADHD AF.

So, I needed a few things-- instant backup, low friction, pretty. Cause I'm 6'3, jacked, nerdy, and a do gooder... but I still like a cute font. I'm adding this because I think you can catch more flys with honey, and honey... I'm fly.

Please enjoy.

/rapbattle

This is a fork of Tools for Boox by Gabor Auth, optimized for daily planning on Boox e-ink tablets with pen color support, full-screen drawing, pinch-zoom for smaller devices, dynamic home screen widgets, and Ultrabridge integration by r/starkruzr for handwriting OCR, backup, and task sync. I took inspiration from the Viwoods Daily Planner. In fact, I think it succesfully saves the Viwoods AiPaper Mini. I'm so glad Claude knows how to do the things I don't. God bless a good tool. Love a tool.

What's different in this fork

Drawing & navigation

  • Full-screen immersive mode — no system bars, no action bar, no dashboard; the planner page fills the entire screen edge-to-edge (including display cutout area). Swipe from a screen edge to briefly reveal back/home if you need them.
  • Pinch-zoom + two-finger pan — the 1404x1872 canvas renders at native resolution on any device. Pinch to zoom (up to 4x), two-finger drag to pan, double-tap to toggle 2x zoom / reset. Designed for the Palma 2 Pro where the page would otherwise be cramped. Strokes are stored in canvas space, so zoom never distorts handwriting or affects export/sync.
  • Two-finger swipes for navigation by default — left/right to change days, up/down for week/notes. Single-finger gestures are ignored to prevent accidental swipes while resting your hand on the screen. The top toolbar "hand" button toggles single-finger mode for when you want easier one-handed navigation.
  • Rotate screen — toolbar button cycles through portrait, landscape, reverse-portrait, reverse-landscape. Choose which orientations the button visits in Settings → Rotation.
  • Adaptive toolbar — single 40dp column on tall screens; expands to a 100dp two-column layout when the screen height drops below 720dp (Palma in landscape, Mini, etc.) so every icon stays reachable.
  • Pen color picker — tap the pen while active to choose Black / Red / Blue / Green and Fine / Med / Thick / Bold
  • Red ink = tasks — write in red and Ultrabridge automatically creates a todo from your handwriting
  • Lasso, copy, paste — select strokes, move them around, paste with per-stroke color persistence
  • Undo / Redo — 50-step history
  • Collapsible toolbar — grey strip when collapsed, tap to expand; keeps the drawing area clean
  • Phosphor icons throughout — clean outline-style toolbar from Phosphor Icons
  • Redesigned navigator strip — clean Atkinson Hyperlegible typography, current granularity in bold focal type, siblings in muted context. Same look across Day / Week / Month / Quarter / Year views.

Viwoods AiPaper Mini support

The fork also runs on the Viwoods AiPaper Mini (a non-Boox, MediaTek e-ink tablet), built as a dedicated viwoods product flavor so the Boox builds are completely unaffected.

  • Native hardware fast ink — on the viwoods flavor (which targets SDK 30 so the app runs in the untrusted_app_30 SELinux domain, like Viwoods' own apps), the planner calls ENoteSetting.initWriting() to hand pen rendering to the device's T1000 timing controller — instant, full-screen, pressure-sensitive strokes, the same engine the stock Viwoods apps use. No root required. This needs the factory-default property persist.sys.focusmonitor.config=1, present on stock units and only wiped by a bootloader-unlock + factory-reset (restore it with root via resetprop -p persist.sys.focusmonitor.config 1, or the Viwoods debug tool's "enable accessibility" command).
  • FAST-waveform software fallback — if that property isn't set (or on the standard build), the app instead switches the panel to the FAST e-ink waveform and renders strokes itself, so they still refresh far quicker than the default GL16 reading waveform. The Onyx raw-drawing path is skipped on Viwoods (its TouchHelper loads but is inert and swallows the pen).
  • Implemented in ViwoodsFastInk.kt; all device-specific behavior is gated so the standard (Boox) build is byte-for-byte the same as before. Credit to jdkruzr's ViwoodsAppDev reverse-engineering for the initWriting + targetSdk-30 recipe.

Gratitude page

Swiping down from the day view lands on a dedicated gratitude / journal page before the regular blank notes:

  • 3 Things I'm Grateful For — left column, 11 lines for free-form elaboration on each numbered slot
  • The Best Thing Today — right column, 11 lines
  • Doodle area — full-width framed scratch space at the bottom, sized so the sketch becomes its own keepsake (see Ultrabridge Sketch notes below)

Swipe down again to reach your regular note pages 0, 1, 2…

Home screen widgets

Three widget variants render today's planner page directly on the home screen, auto-refreshing every 30 minutes and immediately whenever you save strokes:

  • Ledger Full Page — full planner page (schedule + tasks + notes)
  • Ledger Schedule — schedule column split horizontally: morning (5am–1pm) on the left, afternoon (1pm–10pm) on the right
  • Ledger Tasks & Notes — right column rearranged side-by-side: tasks on the left, notes on the right

All three include your handwritten strokes and overlay device calendar events. Tap any widget to open the app to today's page.

Sync & export

  • Google Drive sync — bidirectional auto-sync on page load and close
  • WebDAV backup — PDF + raw JSON upload to Ultrabridge (or any WebDAV server)
  • JSON export — day page stroke data syncs to ToolsForBoox/json/ for downstream processing (OCR, task extraction)

Polish

  • Atkinson Hyperlegible font — optimized for e-ink readability
  • No ads, no Firebase — stripped completely
  • Lighter alternating cells — better contrast on e-ink displays

Ultrabridge Integration

When paired with the Ultrabridge Ledger Processor, your handwritten planner pages get:

  1. Full-page OCR via Claude Sonnet — schedule, tasks, and notes transcribed
  2. Automatic task creation — unchecked items in the Tasks section become CalDAV todos
  3. Due date parsing — write "due 6/15" in a task and it becomes a real due date
  4. Sync everywhere — tasks appear in Apple Reminders, tasks.org, Thunderbird, or any CalDAV client
  5. Note page OCR — extra note pages (including the gratitude page) get their own freeform Sonnet pass and append as "Page N" sections to the daily Ledger note on mjh.yoga
  6. Sketch notes — strokes inside the gratitude page's doodle area are rendered as a standalone PNG and posted as a separate Sketch tagged note
  7. Multi-device merge — write on any Boox throughout the day (Tab8, Palma 2 Pro, Tab Mini C, etc.); the processor walks all device folders on WebDAV, dedupes strokes by ID, and consolidates everything into one Ledger note per date

Tab 8 / Tab mini c 4.2 firmware Update coming in 2 months

Contacted Boox feedback. about updates -- good news?

Story: bought a Tab 8 second hand and it doesn't connect to Boox US servers and had hoped they might add it in for 4.2 when it finally arrives.

Alas, no China Server Saver for me but they did say the update was scheduled for within 2 months.

this bodes well for the Tab Mini C, I hope!

Trade? Viwoods Mini and Tab Mini C for Note Air 5 C? Tab Ultra C Pro? USA

Just like the title says! I have a viwoods mini and a tab mini c— and I end up using my palma 2 pro and tab x b&w!

Anyone interested in trading my two 8” sizes for a bigger, newer color model?

Lets see :)

See, boox, I used my manners. I think youve been hard at work on this, based on my feedback responses in app.

are we getting close?

You know how much I love your products and how much I use them.

My tab collection— mini c, 8, and X b/w— are all running beautifully. I would be so happy to see them get the nudge up.

PLEASE :)
