Hello friends on r/smashbros, my name is Dhir and I’m proudly the Event Director & Founder of the Battle of BC series. Two weeks from today, my team and I will be deep in the trenches transforming an empty convention centre exhibition hall into an unforgettable tournament venue, with hundreds of setups, stages, and tons to see and do.

It’s our eighth iteration of the event and our 10th Birthday of the series (lost years to COVID, which is when I launched Galint Gaming with the Galint Melee Open series). Each year, we try our best to make the event better than the last, continuing to expand all that goes into it. This year, we’ve been hit by quite a few unexpected headwinds, including licensing challenges, the FIFA World Cup, and the international political climate and warfare, all of which have presented hurdles. When you combine this with the current state of the various scenes present at the tournament, Battle of BC 8 has been one of the more challenging years for me behind the scenes.

However, despite it all, things are coming together strong and I’m beyond excited for all we have in store for Battle of BC. It’s going to be an incredible show, and we can’t wait to show you all we have in store. The Melee & Ult brackets are shaping up to be amazing, and we’ll have tons of coverage of all the action across main and quad streams for both.
