I just need to vent a little bit. I got into native plant gardening but my husband still mostly likes traditional plants and I still like some of them too. Thing is, he was out gardening for 5 years due to medical reasons and I took over everything during that time & then I also started planting a lot of native plants. Well, he’s finally now able to do some gardening again. Which is great! But when he weeds, he clears everything out, there is not a leaf or pinecone in sight, the soil is completely bare. I just disagree with that, and he doesn’t like my “critiques”. He knows my native garden areas are off limits. I tend to “chop & drop” & let things decompose over time. A completely bare soil bed freaks me out a little. Anyway, I know we’ll reach some sort of compromise. But it’s been really hard for me feeling helpless as he does a “clean sweep” and I just said “but nature isn’t like that” but then he says “everyone does it”. It’s just driving me nuts right now and I know it’s silly to argue about it.

I feel like we receive something in the mail from her office like every 2-3 months, like a statement or newsletter type thing or a yearly calendar. Like, who is actually paying for the printing/paper/mailing costs? Is it really necessary in this digital age? Is it to reach older folks who may not go online? It just seems so wasteful to me. Can I sign up not to receive this?

Anyone else?? I’m over the heat, wildfires, smoke, bug bites, hives..the list goes on. Already thinking of fall & Xmas haha. I don’t know how people live in hot climates, our summers aren’t even that long. I used to wonder why my MIL would lay on the sofa during a heatwave. I’ve turned into that person.

It’s summer..but thoughts of Xmas are starting to creep in. Anyone else? It usually doesn’t start till end of Aug for me.

Guess we are never getting fireworks back for Canada Day. Do other cities still have them?

After 2 years on a waiting list, I’m finally seeing an eye specialist this week. In the generic pre-appt note it says no lotions or creams. Do they mean just around the eyes?
