Mysterious spring in oil filter chamber

So I got this n12 engine from a guy who got it from a junk yard i think. Got it installed, went to put the filter in and this spring is in there, no filter. It doesn't seem to fit in with the filter well and I'm very confused about what it does or why is in there. Any guesses would be great thanks! It doesn't fit through any of the holes so I'm pretty sure it didn't get there from somewhere else in the engine. I'm new to the mini world so if this is something obvious and I'm just not familiar with it you can yell at me a little.

S engine in base car

I've got a 2007 base mini with a destroyed engine. I'm looking at replacements and seeing a lot more s engines available and wondering what the compatibility is. I know I'd at least need an ECU tune but is it a pretty direct replacement otherwise? I've got a manual transmission. I'd love to know people's thoughts and opinions. Also what range of years are compatible and all that. Thanks!

Best way to get into this pinball play field

I need to get into this old pinball game to replace some stuff. Currently it's held together by these folded edges on all sides. I'm wondering if anyone has any better ideas than just having to cut them all cause that's all I've come up with so far. If I cut just two sides I might be able to slide it out. Or I'm considering cutting all for sides but leaving tabs so I can bend back them to place to put it back together. Any and all thoughts and ideas welcome!

Lunar landing electric pinball

Just picked this up from marketplace, does anybody know anything about it? Needs a little fixing up, and I'm hoping I can maybe modify it a bit to make the play a little more interesting
