Will the sweater I’m knitting fit over a child’s head?
I know the only real way to find out is to try it but I do not have access to a child right now lol. I’m knitting the Hanstholm junior sweater by Petiteknit for my friend‘s son who’s turning 2 and I’m making size 3-4 YO, however my gauge is a bit tighter than hers. Because of this, I used a 4mm instead of 3mm needle for the folded collar (76 stitches) and tried to keep things very loose when knitting the last collar row onto the cast on edge. I had my friend measure her sons head circumference and she said it’s 49cm. I also measured my own (56cm) and the sweater fits over my head, but I need to use a lot of force to pull it over and it hurts my ears. Can anyone ask their crystal ball if a 7cm difference in circumference will be enough that if it’s painful to put on for me, it’ll be comfortable enough for the kid? I know kids are more sensitive too so there’s a chance I’ll have to remove the collar…
