Bye bye so cal bluefin? Or moon phase going to snap them on again

Any one have any thoughts or predictions?

We ran out all the way to potato bank in search of them that night.

Boat put us on 1 school that didn't bite, 11pm ish

Would have rather stayed there then putt around in the morning for kelps near west end catalina that weren't producing , but we tried to get in on the phenomenal recent bite that just completely disappeared with the new moon.

Whole fleet seems to be shifting towards exotics seeing as the bluefin migrate out of range, but id bet that they are pooling up a bit behind channel islands still.

Too treacherous with forecast I think for anything that gets out past the islands.

With La niña to follow, will we see concentrations of albacore and bluefin late next year or into 2028?

Reassessment changed from Aug to Sept , they wont tell me when next is

Since its shifted around a couple times I just wanted to find out my reassesement date.

But when I call they dont tell me or say what worker is assigned.

Is this pointless for me to ask?

Is the weather worsening or getting better next week?

I keep hearing its going to get nicer, calmer? Or do boats have to use south side San Clemente for safety?

Ai keeps disagreeing and saying its fishable then not.

Offshore pelagics

Thing is, Ai is convinced it's always right, whatever opinion it has seems convincing enough but if you re-word it or ask in pro mode, it changes the answer but is always convinced its 100% right, as if its the final authority, but literally had opposite answers (depending on what mode I was on)

Rep payee account, where do other payouts go to, same account?

what is the appropriate process for ssdi beneficiary WITH A PAYEE, that recieves a gift/converts an asset or gets a settlement?

Bank said was ok to recieve in the rep payee account. Discouraged by ssa but still correct if accounting is done properly.

Rep payee will have to keep correct records right?

Anyone?

Doesn't seem like a complex answer, yet I don't see any official guidance on this

This is SSDI based, but they have a payee

Crickets at the ssdi sub so asking here

CA does qmb/slmb have the same asset limits as medicaid limits?

Just wondering if someone can help, do not want to lose qmb due to assets, but will be receiving a one time lump sum and wonder if it counts against me for MSP program

Please also include 250% working disabled program /qmb

CA can you tell me the unearned income limit for a month for these 2 non magi medicaid categories?

Example is

House sale that burnt down

95k original loan/value

Burnt Value maybe 25k (co owner) No capital gains , loss when sold (Other owner in dispute, on ssi but if he does not sell he is faking intent to return to remain exempt and prevent from selling)

Special deemed groups

DAC medicaid with 130k asset limit but is there a monthly uneared income limit? Disqualified for one month? CA

And also 250% wdp

What counts as unearned income

Gifts, gambling etc?

This one I believe is unearned income has to be below the SSA federal maximum of one months pay

Asset limit going to 21k july 2027 for non magi

So do able accounts still seem the best with the stock options long term? stocks on your own is worse and not exempt anyway...this is if the house is sold

Whats the longest its taken to get a refund for Medicare Savings program?

Its been 5 months since SSA started deducting medicare premiums which are definitely being covered by the state buy and has not lapsed per human services- they've exhausted there methods to try and correct the problem themselves with out manual SSA intervention.

Conversion case to DAC records under 2nd parental record.

I heard PC doesnt even read messages that are sent by the FO but they swear thats whats needed (someone from process center)

Medicare savings program active, no lapse , CA - month 5 of SSA deductions

Not sure how they plan on addressing my issue. Told its an SSA issue from conversion of record. Told its a human service issue from SSA etc.

Medicare and human services affirm over and over, active in the state system.

SSA - exceptional backlong noted, but message was sent to PC (been told they don't even read these sometimes)

Month 5+ of premium deductions

(202$ - rough)

Whats the longest theyll let an error go like this? Congresional representative reached out to DHCS a long time ago.

Weed vaping in apartments

Most rentals I look up have no smoking clauses but it does'nt seem to be enforced when it comes to weed in CA

Sage creek e.g.

Reviews all state that it smells hardcore etc like weed parties etc. But its still a nice place to live

So is weed smoke allowed or not in simi valley?

And if they vape, thats technically not smoke and maybe smells more like popcorn, er potcorn

Thoughts?

And the places that state absolutely no vaping or smoking of any kind, pass , no thanks not getting accused of pot use (even if I had a medical need and was dying of cancer?) when every teen anywhere uses your laundry rooms or whatever to smoke at.

Or phantom smell false reports. Like they "thought" they smelled it. How far would they take it if they "thought" they smelled it. Search team, k9s?

Any landlords use any actual reason these days? Well that's my reasoning for avoiding rentals that seem like they got overthe top landlords.

Ssa won't update MSP status

Any clue as to why the local office can not get SSA to update MSP medicare savings program?

Have full scope medicaid

SLMB (and should be slmb+ but human services has no idea what I am talking about)

- but they maintain that MSP is active in the status has not lapsed

However SSA has a complete backlog with processing center that is supposed to manually review why there is an error

Medicare part b being deducted and paid by the state concurrently

5 months now

Skeptical about a refund because that is quite a bit for them to say "oops"

CA CMS 1115

CA cms 1115 applies to certain "deemed" groups and I wanted to raise awareness about it as there is much recent concern over the asset limits being lowered again.

Fortunately the CA senate/assembly rejected Newsom's 2k asset limit in favor of continuing the 130k limit until at least July 2027

Where they may then lower it to 21k

Nothing is set in stone yet.

But for Pickle groups, DAC, widow medicaid

Federal waiver authority 1115 was approved and is expiring end of year.

CMS is seeking a 5 year extension on CMS 1115 federal waiver authority

This waiver exempted these groups from asset tests altogether- although they've proposed it go back to 130k for the 5 year extension renewal

As to whether or not they follow suit with a 21k asset limit in july 2027 with the entirety of medicaid even if after a federal waiver approval of section 1115 is granted, that's yet to be seen.

Personally , my only asset is a burnt down out of state co-owned property that is entirely inaccessible but is able to be sold IF the other co owner cooperates. What if he never does? It has been exempt and was up for foreclosure but by a sheer miracle has been relieved of the remaining debt.

I can not gift or sell my "portion" out necessarily.

It sits, uninhabitable - but am very close to a full resolution allowing it to be sold as a distressed property, as the other owner is slightly cooperating now that it can list for 50k.

We are one signature away.

Seeking advice on what the consequences of this all might be with all the changes happening or threatening to be changed etc.

TIA

In California

DAC medicaid/pickle

Intended to get title out of my name but also cover remaining costs and what was paid over the years by garnishment basically by way of sale.

Ultimate time limit - 5 years with CMS 1115 being granted (asset limit of 130k remains)

MSP savings program error by SSA

MSP medicare savings program, SSA error

Please don't refer me to the medicaid sub, this is an SSA issue. Medicaid options have been exhausted.

Most likely many have not experienced this issue, because there just are not as many cases with the same circumstances.

E.g.

DAC under moms record switching to Fathers record after the latter's retirement.

DAC (mom) & ssi discontinued

Medicaid makes a mistake and discontinued DAC medicaid (6C) places in 6H. Appeal succesful - 1634(c) SSA rulings state continued medicaid (under dac coding)

During this-

MSP program no lapse- according to human services (medicaid) , state system shows continuous coverage of msp

Congressional reps contacted, referred to Sacramento DHCS, no effect.

Error report submitted to SSA by Human services.

All signs point to SSA issue, they think they have to "manually" intervene and send to PC (payment or processing center) to correct

Basically the state has been paying the premium, same time as being deducted from SSA check. Going on 4 months.

They have exhausted all options to try to get the system to recognize the switch , yet still shows active at state system level.

Exceptional backlog at SSA which will just be an appointment to see if PC has seen the case.

Any suggestions appreciated.

In CA- they said full scope medicaid has an automatic buy in. DAC income disregard. But I think QMB program still counts income regardless, thus am SLMB.

Waiting for SSA to look at it.

Have been a squeaky wheel since FEB for this.

DAC, pickle medicaid asset limit, DWidow, under federal waiver authority, CA and other

DAC medicaid - no asset limit under federal waiver authority, CA

When asset limits in CA were reinstated to the 130k level for many, in 2026

But I don't seem to be finding much information on the exact federal waiver authority that it is talking about- where pickle, DAC , disabled widow programs are exempt from asset tests due to a seperate FEDERAL waiver authority/ruling.

That sounds good , but the last bit is worrisome somewhat, where they "await" further guidance when the demonstration waiver ends, see text below

Seems like bad actors if they intentionally allow the exempt programs to save, have assets higher than 2k (most dac pickle etc were bound by this rule before- the aka 2k resource limit by ssi that has never once been updated since the 80s)

And then say oops, asset limit. Back down to 2k.

But just wanted some of you to be aware if your pickle or dac , not to worry about the May budget proposal regarding the 2k asset limit being "proposed", at least for now, I would still be worried if the May budget proposal passed in Jan 2027

Here is the publication from 2025

No sooner than January 1, 2026, the asset test shall be reinstated for Non-MAGI programs, including LTC and MSPs, except for the Pickle, DAC, and DW programs. The asset limits were eliminated for the Pickle, DAC, and DW programs under a separate federal waiver authority. After this implementation, the Pickle, DAC, and DW programs will continue to be exempt from the asset test. DHCS will issue guidance in the future regarding the implementation of the asset test for Pickle, DAC, and DW programs once the demonstration waiver authority ends. Please see the chart on pages 8 and 9 for all affected Non-MAGI Medi-Cal programs and the new asset limits
